I had meant to post the ending of a familiar novel, and instead got the ending of a less well-known short story by the same author (and featuring the same title character). Here's the correct posting: "When Margaret grows up she will have a daughter, who is to be ____'s mother in turn; and thus it will go on, so long as children are gay and innocent and heartless."
