| The Goddess Mara Sat 8/25/2007 2:33p | I received my copy of the new Tokyo Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean CD via amazon.co.jp a few days ago.
The mix on the ride-through is completely different than before, very directional, and full of music from the films.
However, none of the film actors from the new additions are on it. A Japanese voice does what I assume to be the Davy Jones narration; the original Paul Frees vocal track is used for the captain of the Wicked Wench (no Geoffrey Rush or Barbossa), the Pirate Captain dunking Carlos in the well gets the new dialogue about Jack Sparrow, as does the pooped pirate holding the treasure map beside the barrel. However, there is no Johnny Depp dialogue at the end of the attraction.
So, all three voice-over additions from the actors in the film are missing in action from the CD.
Are they used on the ride? TDLFAN said the changes are identical to those in Orlando--so what's up with the CD?
Sounds like when Disney signed contracts with the actors to add their voices to the attraction, that did not include the right to use the vocal tracks on anything they might sell, like a CD.
Sounds similar to the debacle with the Tiki Room footage on the Disney Treasures DVDs where they refused to pay the licensing fees so they could include the complete Tiki room show as originally shot and simply edited out the footage with the songs they refused to pay the licensing fee for.
Anyone know more? |

Yes, but TDL's also has some exclusive sounds. And if the voices of the actors are not on the cd, it may be because of copyright issues, or the lack of permission to use the actual movie actor voices... Personally, I bought the cd for the nighttime show track. Do not care much for the ride track, since I can ride the ride any time I want when at TDL.

Check out the ride video here: http://www.jtcent.com/disneyla nd/adventure/advpoc.html

I can not tell you if they are indeed the actors' voices, but I can tell you this much: it is the same voices I hear at the MK's (and I assume DL's) version of POTC. |

| TDLFAN Mon 8/27/2007 4:16a | If I recall well... it's the english version, or else, I was too jetlagged to remember. |

| gurgitoy2 Mon 8/27/2007 7:48a | The Pirates ride-thru track is...ok, but not great. I don't like how it just fades out at the end before the attraction is even over...and leave out Jack's Dialogue. It is the first official ride-thru of the new version from any of the parks, so it's good for that reason, but I'm not that thrilled with it. |
