Hello everybody.

I have been reading here for a while now and decided to join up to ask all you knowledgeable people for some information regarding the Tokyo Disney Resort.

I am looking at visiting within the next eighteen months but would like some information on any definite new attractions coming to the two parks within that time. I would like to nail down a time to visit and would hate to set a date that may be a month or so before a major new attraction opens.

My main interest is definitely attractions and rides so I don't really care if I miss a show or parade. I know Buzz Lightyear is coming, although I have no idea when this opens. I am pretty sure there is nothing new for TDS within the next two years but, since I have been there once, things like ToT, the Sinbad changes and RS will be all new to me.

Thanking you all in advance for the information.

I think you mean Monsters, Inc. is coming. Buzz Lightyear debuted at Tokyo Disneyland back in 2004 ;).

See why I need you all?

Sorry, but I kinda get all those Pixar things mixed up. They just kinda blend into one for me.

; )

So when is MI coming?

From what I've heard, early 2009.

As far as I know, that is really the only one if you don't count that huge hotel they are building in front of the park lol.

I would assume most of the additions outside of that would be show based.

Well, as nice as a new hotel is(and I have seen photos and I wouldn't exactly call a massive structure in front of the train station "nice"), I am primarily interested in new attractions. Hotels are a dime a dozen at Disney for me and are in NO WAY why I visit the parks.

Looks like it might be an early '09 visit for me then.

Oh and WD, as quite a long time reader of these boards, please let me say I sometimes LOL at your passion and multiple !!!!!!'s. Your sheer exuberance is welcome in some discussions where it's the same old boring folk towing the company line and trying to cheerlead another ner High School Musical pep rally as if it's the new Indy or TOT. Your comments and your "I will say it like it is/not how I would say it if I were maybe being paid" are truly hilarious sometimes.

^^Wow, THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Wow, I have a fan lol. For people like me, I gained quite a few critics over the years, but no death threats in months, so its nice to get a compliment ;D.

Yeah, I just try to keep it real as possible about this stuff and to be fair, MOST here do, including quite a lot of my friends here and yeah, I call it like I see it. DCA and HKDL are SUCKY parks, people disagree, but the attendance numbers seem to be telling us the majority seems to agree ;). I think TDS is a FANTASTIC park, but if you look at my TOT review, it doesn't mean I'm completely blindsided to its faults either, its just compared to what's been coming out of the company lately, its the last great hope we seem to have for TRUE Disney quality!!!!!!!

(Ironically though, what is funny about me and TDR is some people think I'm too apologetic about and others don't think I'm apologetic enough, must be doing something right lol)

Anyway, thanks for the comment Bob :)

No problem!!!!!!!

I had a friend here who is a major Disney fan who recently asked if I wanted to go with him to HKDL, to share costs and all. I looked at him like his head had just opened up and birds flew out.

He was like, "What's the matter?!?"

I told him that imagine DL has 50 attractions. He said, "Okay."

Then I said, "That dinky little place has like 3."

He didn't ask me again.

What CONSTANTLY amazes me is that people here will gladly shell out the bucks to visit HKDL, because they perceive it is "accessible" because people from Australia have been visiting Honkers for decades and have no trouble with the language and so on.

Try telling them that for a grand or less extra they could visit the BEST Disney resort with THE BEST SECOND GATE IN THE WORLD(!!!!!!!!)and when they hear it's in Japan, they instantly think of those old John West ads and say "Oh-koon-oh-nooooooo!!!!!!!" As if the thought of going to Japan is like peddling a bike to Mars.

But then, I gave up trying to understand people a LONNNNG time ago.

LOL, yeah, I know exaaactly what you mean!! I'm assuming now you're from Australia, right??

It's funny, I was in the states a few weeks ago and I met a woman from New Zealand (yes kids, I realize New Zealand and Australia are two different places ;)), but I sort of struck up a conversation with her and she was telling me how much she loves the Disney parks and people from New Zealand and Australia come to the states just to experience the parks all the time. But then she went on to complain about the long hours it takes to get there sometimes (she mentioned it was a 20 hour flight on that trip) and I just casually asked her has she ever been to TDR before?

I swear, the look on her face looked like I just asked her if she's planning on serving in Iraq ;). To me, its a no-brainer!!!!! You claim to LOVE Disney, tired of flying all the way to the states to see it though, NO PROBLEM!!!! You have one of the BEST Disney resorts on the planet, less than 10 hours away and hey, instead of spending all that money to see the same parks over and over and OVER again, why not see a NEW resort, get a different experience and more importantly a different CULTURAL experience altogether, but man, I swear it just looked completely out of the question.

In fact, I don't even think she knows Tokyo Disneysea even exists!!!! Yeah, Disney fan my a-.

And you were right to avoid HKDL, TRUST ME!!!!! Is it the worst park on the planet, of course not, but this is how I simply gauge people in terms of telling them if it's 'worth it' or not? If they NEVER been to a Disney park and this is their one chance, certainly go, give it a whirl, maybe you will like it :). But if you been to one and ONLY one MK park somewhere else, don't even bother! Not only will it automatically see what a crappy park it is compared to the other ones, there's not a single thing there that you most likely haven't done already at the other ones, so really why bother unless you just happen to be in Hong Kong?
