This Little Mermaid dark ride is supposed to be utilizing an omnimover system. The one on the Litte Mermaid DVD uses a system like Peter Pan. My question is, is the system used in Pan an "Omnimover"? I'm hoping it is a ride on scale and scope to rival, no, to blow away the Haunted Mansion. It really could happen you know. 1960s technology vs 2008. Mickey work your magic.

No. The ride system in Haunted Mansion is an Omnimover.

One of the features of an Omnimover is the ability of the individual cars to rotate, allowing the ride designers to "edit" the scenes riders will see. Peter pan doesn't do that.

System aside, I an *extremely* sceptical of the veracity of the LM rumor for DCA.

I'm guessing it might be more like the Peter Pan at WDW with a continuous "Omnimover" style load/unload but still with the over-head track.

Then again, they could be planning a full Omnimover and utilize the existing "ClaMobiles" from Nemo and Friends from EPCOT. Or even a HORIZONS style suspended system. There really are many things that could be done to get ridership numbers up on a dark ride.

I don't think rotating ride vehicles defines an omnimover. Horizons was an omnimover and didn't rotate. Buzz rotates, but not to any preprogramed scheme.

Horizons was not an Omnimover.

I wonder if that was the ride that I thought was going to be like POTC.

>>>Horizons was not an Omnimover.<<<

Yes, Horizons and The World Of Motion were both OMNIMOVER's.

Has this attraction even been confirmed, or is it just a rumor. First the Ratatouille coaster and now this.
