Actually, a few years ago, there was some ill-advised concept floated that was going to change the facades of Main Street from the 1910 era to the 1950 era. This is possibly a rework of that idea. |

The street scene looks incredibly like Radiator Springs. Flo's V8 Diner and all. And I will bet you $300 million dollars that the finished version in DCA will look 1000% more like the Radiator Springs from the movie than the one clip art pic on the internet. And Jonvn, you have saguaro cactus in socal. they are all over the southwest which socal is very much a part of. Radiator Springs is without a doubt is on Rt. 66 between Flagstaff, Az. and Barstow, Ca. On a global scale you really are mincing hairs here. But I will give you probably on the Az. side, by 40 miles or so. But 90% of the people who would have passed through "Radiator Springs" in the 50's would have been heading to Cali.
PS. I use Cali because I'm lazy, not to be cool. (I am way too smart to be cool.) Cali= California (in general) SoCal= SoCal.

Well,l I've been all over the upper and lower desert, and I don't really recall seeing it. I do admit, however, not going further east than Palm Springs.
We have joshua trees, in the upper desert anyway. I think the saguaro are more in the Arizona, New Mexico and Texas areas. But, hey, I'm not a botanist. I just have never seen them growing wild out there like I have joshua trees. |

I remember a similar rumor, from the harris era, of placing a giant mickey head on the side of the matterhorn, and he would be able to move his eyes and lips, and talk to giant goofy and donalds wrapped around the sides of the mountain.
Cooler heads prevailed then, maybe we have reason to hope for the best this time too. |

| WorldDisney Sun 9/9/2007 4:04a | And I have to agree with others here, those pictures of Carland DO look like Radiator Springs. What am I missing here? I assume there would be some differences, but can you HONESTLY imagine Disney making a land called 'Carland' (lamest name EVER!!!!) and have NO references to the 'CARS' movie besides the characters????
Sorry nope, that would be giving them more credit than they deserve ;). Guess we'll have to see. |

| bean Sun 9/9/2007 11:13p | carland is a temporary working name and NO the land is not themed on the movie just the main attraction. |

| bean Sun 9/9/2007 11:17p | i would also like to remind people that one of the reasons some of those buildings look familiar to the movie is because the buildings in the movie wer actually inspired by real buildings along route 66. They were just renamed as well as some extra elements added to fit the "CAR" world in the movie. |
