More signs of dumbing down through a toon invasion of the Disney Parks. Where wood carvers and farm animals once dwelled, awaiting the arrival of a new laughing place, instead we get more rubber heads. My god, when will we have a return to form. If it wasn't for Expedition Everest or Soarin', I would lose all hope.

>>>Woody comes in without a Splash!

Several message boards including our very own magicforum have been the place for debates about what might be going on at Critter Corral. Main conclussion by most fans was: Splash Mountain, The long awaited attraction that has been a hit at three other Disney parks world wide, but wasn't build in Paris, yet

So when construction workers put up the famous green fences around the area a couple of weeks ago, this was direct evidence that work had started on the water attraction, right??? Wrong! There will be no new attraction for the Critter Corral area any time soon. But something else is being erected on the location... but what?

Afer the Pixar-invation at Discoveryland, Toon Studio, Disney California Adventure and other Disney parks, our Frontierland is the next on the Imagineer's list.
Would you believe they're building a whole meet ‘n' greet area dedicated to Woody and pals?! The former petting zoo is currently being demolished to make way for a lively characters hangout place and will also be used during this year's Halloween and Christmas season. Woody's Roundup Village, as Imagineers are branding this corner of Frontierland, will be the first permanent characters location in the Paris' Frontierland.

So, no Splash Mountain... for now. To be continued?<<<

Oh no

Another western themed idea hits Paris.
Something is very wrong with those French. What is their fascination with US western culture? Woody of all things.
Hey France, you are corny and you need to get a life.

You French want to be me but you never will no matter how many cowboy hats you wear.

This just chaps my hide.

Hey france I got some of John Wayne's old socks to sell you. The bid starts at ten thousand euros.

Can I be honest and say I'm really not lamenting the fact the Splash ain't coming? I have no intention of riding a flume ride no matter how well done in January at DLP. I actually think Splash as is would be a mistake.

I can't say I'm overly excited by a Meet n' Greet area, but this could thematically(sp?) be the start of a mini land to include Toy Story Mania to help balance the park since Buzz opened on the other side.

I do recognise the need, particularly in Paris, for organised Meet n' Greet areas!!!

I agree, but I would rather have a fully realised Critter Country instead of meet and greets. They can do the meet and greets near Cowboy Cookout and add rope queue lines. But I would rather have either Splash or Critter Country.

Now I agree on not wanting to get wet in January. However, it also gets cold and snows in Japan, and they have a non wet setting for their version in winter, so it could be done for ours.

I rode Tokyo Disneyland's Splash Mountain in March before, and thought it was freezing- even without the water jets soaking you. You do get wet still, and that alone feels like a wall of ice on your face.

It doesn't seem to bother me as much as others, due to a couple of things.

It's out of the way, it's not as if they are building this in Fort Comstock. I'm not a big fan of Toy Story, so if this goes ahead I'll be pretty much gauranteed that I wont be seeing Woody strolling past Phantom Manor. A big plus!

For all you Splash Mtn lovers out there, I really dont think this minor addition is going to halt the building of Chick a pin Hill at some stage in the future. Also like ukfan mentioned an orderly meet n'greet will be much welcomed in DLP.

I know guys. I suppose my point is, I remember a time when Disney was about the immersive experiences and the rubber heads were a minor diversion. I am spoilt because DLP has discerning Disney fans, but on the more active DLP boards, you would think the magic of Disney is due to Rubber Heads, Roller Coasters and Fast Passes (and people even call the dark rides boring!!!!). I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I got really excited a few years ago when I could show mikey a Brahma Bull (as they are very uncommon in Europe), and I used to love to watch the wood carvers.

I actually like Woody, Jessie and the gang, but the rubberheads have already kicked the cancan dancers out, and now the animal (yes I know it's better than being dormant).

I think maybe I just need a break from Disney. Can anyone recommend any highly themed environments. Disney has slowed down on this idea, and Vegas started kicking them out years ago. Any recommendations?

Regarding this development, it looks like this will be the home of Santa Claus before Woody kicks him out in January.
