If your awed at the WDW MK hub, you should see the one at Tokyo!

Interesting. I always knew that in terms of sheer acreage, Disneyland Paris is the largest (due to a lot of unused expansion land). However, I think you do a lot more walking in Tokyo Disneyland. Kind of like comparing Animal Kingdom to Epcot. Animal Kingdom is about 500 acres, but a lot of that is landscape. Epcot's total guest accessible area is larger. And yes, Tokyo Disneyland's hub is gigantic; at least double the size of the hubs found at the other Magic Kingdoms. But they use that space as a parade route, so the size is necessary.

Personally, I do not like the scale of the MK. It feels so....dull (except Liberty Square and the coridor of Tomorrowland. I much prefer the cozyness of DL and DLP. More to discover, more artistry, more magic.

I agree, but I do not think it's the scale of the Magic Kingdom that makes it dull. It's that the general theming of the place is kind of bland. Toontown Fair and Fantasyland are the best examples.

The other Magic Kingdoms all feature more lavish theming, even Hong Kong Disneyland in my opinion.

True, I remember the MK seeming to be much better in the 70's and early 80's, but never a patch on DL.

^^Dave ... it's not so much scale ... the MK used to ooze magic to me in the 70s and 80s, but so much has been taken away, closed, watered down ... it feels so empty in so many places that once were full and vibrant and dynamic.

It's not a question of space, but how you utilize (or choose not to) it.

I really believe the only area that is responsible for giving the MK a bit of a bad rap is Tomorrowland - even with the rockwork and lighting upgrades that area of the park sill looks very dated.
In particular, the transition area between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland leaves a lot be desired and has a dated feeling.

Perhaps one day Disney will patch things up with George Lucas and perhaps at the same time GL will be looking to get back into the theme park business - a Mos Eiseley spaceport theme for Tomorrowland would most likely accommodate all of the current attractions and allow for a couple of new ones.

The same guys who came up with the DLR Indy should be able to come up with some kind of Star Wars dark ride, particularly with all of the strange worlds and creatures they would have at their disposal.

DLer - Tomorrowland (and Liberty Square) are actually the only parts of the MK I like. Fantasyland and Toontown Fair are a joke. The soul has been ripped out of Main Street. Adventureland is ok, but not what it once was. Frontierland is dirty and run down. The parades are subpar. The entertainment (other than rubber heads) are minimal. The dining options are poor, and they shutter the interesting ones in the off season. And the place is filthy.

If it weren't for unique classics such as Country Bear Jamboree, Hall of Presidents, Carousel of Progress and the TTA, coupled with Wishes, I wouldn't bother with it.

Millions of people think the MK is the epitomy of Disney, and yet have never been to DL (which is IMHO), DLP or TDL to see how poor the MK is in comparison.

To me the MK is like a entrecote steak - much better than hamburger (non Disney parks), but not the Filet Mignon it proports to be (DL, TDL, DLP).

Personally I would rather have fillet mignon, even if it means skipping desert (Epcot/DAK).

After all, that is why we are going to California next year, even though it is a little more expensive for us and takes longer to get to!

I'm happy to settle for Entrecote Steak if it means dessert every now and then, but I do get Filet Mignon every couple of months!!!

Agreed...I like variety too. I am just saying, some people want a large meal, others a small quality one, and some want a mix.

You am I want a mix. It's just more often than not I prefer quality vs quantity - hence why I am willing to have longer gaps between vists.

Neither are right nor wrong, just different.
