| rtjl72 Mon 10/29/2007 8:19p | villians-i saw your post on community regarding the driving suggestions you offered to tink mobile. that sounds like very sound and practiced advice. i hope they heed your warnings and suggestions. we crossed over the rockies 1 winter during a snowstorm and at night. not the smartest thing my dh has ever decided to do, we were one of the last ones to get through and that is not an honor you really want bestowed upon yourself. anyway, with you going to tahoe you probably do run into a lot of winter driving! in the long run- with as much as you travel- you probably really do as much winter driving as i do here in iowa. here it storms, it gets cleaned up usually within 24 hours and then it's just normal( what ever that is) driving until the next storm rolls through. really only 3 or 4 times a winter is it really bad. |

| travellerandquilter Mon 10/29/2007 10:18p | My mouth is drooling with all your baking stories. Cannot make some of the recipes as the ingredients seem to be different. I will just have to make something similar! but it will be chocolate based!!! I feel sorry for HER as she obviously has a problem and is in total denial about anything wrong ( as a lot of users and abusers are). You are very patient to wait so long and not hassle HER. So lucky for you to be planning your next trip soon. We come across in Jan but not till 14th. I have sort of packed in my mind but will need to check the weather first as to how cold it is predicted. I will not be buying all new undies and socks but will make sure we have enough to last the whole time so not to have to find a laundry and waste time washing. I would rather be in DL>

| TXDISNEYNERD Tue 10/30/2007 6:47a | Thanks for the brownie recipe rt. I can't believe you don't like chocolate. Are you sure? My sister had her kids convinced that they didn't like it until they were 10 years old and then they tried it and were like wait a second, what have we been missing all this time.
Villians - I sure hope you get your check Friday from HER. It is sad about HER pain medication addiction, but it explains a lot.
MM - So sorry about your DD's tradgedy. My DD17 and I always recite the "men are rats, worse than that... men are like fleas on rats.. worse than that men are like ameobas on fleas on rats" from Grease. She has been thru a couple of minor heartbreaks this year. I remember when she broke up with her first boyfriend when she was around 13. I overheard her on the phone telling him that "they have just grown apart" and he would be okay because "there are lots of other fish in the sea". It was all I could do to not laugh.

| TXDISNEYNERD Tue 10/30/2007 10:10a | Hey everybody - I was looking over in the community section and they are talking about the LP Winter Bash. Have any of you ever done that? I didn't see any of you signed up on the list. I was thinking about it, but I can't decide. I guess it is like a secret pal thing. I have done that before and it was fun. Tomorrow is the last to sign up so I guess I better decide quickly. |

| MOLLYSMOM Tue 10/30/2007 10:11a | rt doesn't like chocolate?????????? Whoa...that's just wrong on so many levels. Well, it leaves more for the rest of us.
TQ has ingredient issues??? What do you have issues with...maybe we can help.
I'm with ya on the dark, semi-sweet chocolate....the darker the better.
Whoever's makin' brownies can send me a pan full. tink...how's my punkin' bread comming?
TX...it was hard not to giggle a bit at DD's first break up. She was trying to be so grown up about it. Eventually, we both got a good laugh out of it, though. I asked her if this was the man of her dreams, and if she planned on marrying him. She told me "no way", so I asked her why the heck did she care then. "True" she says, and that's when we started laughing. I told her that she would have more broken hearts in her lifetime, and that she will break a few herself. I told her that I would always be there to pick her up and dust her off, and have sage words of wisdom and a hershey bar to offer. Sometimes, it may take more than that, but we'll work it through. She said I was her hero...ya, I was struttin' around for a while.
She said that this boy Matt and her are still friends. I told her that it's better to have a boy that's your friend, than a boyfriend that's a pooper. She got it. |

| mater4 Tue 10/30/2007 10:26a | Villians good luck getting the rest of your money from HER. It sure would give you extra spending money on your next trip to DL. MM that is good that your DD and you are close and she can talk to you. One of my goals as a mom is to have a similar relationship with my DD. She is a 2nd grader so she comes home from school and talks to me about how some other girl or boy made her mad. I will enjoy it while it lasts. I am glad your DD is doing ok. |

| gottaluvdavillains Tue 10/30/2007 10:49a | Tink is missing - she must be making us all brownies(well none for rt) and punkin bread!! I will be seeing her next month so she must be stocking up for Mater and me! Neener neener!!
MM - now I feel bad - because I have the heartbreak kid here in my DS18 - He is very cute (yes biased - but it's true)...he's dirty blone, blue eyed (framed by black eyelashes/brows), full lips, perfect nose...problem is he knows he's cute and uses it to his advantage!! I know he left graduated hs with a trail of broken hearts behind him...Probably why he's so overprotective of DD9... |

| MOLLYSMOM Tue 10/30/2007 11:12a | villains...for every broken-hearted girl, there's some dude that broke it. It's the way of the world. :) Your DS sounds like a good guy.
DD can pretty much tell me anything. The trick is to be honest with them at all times. If she asks me a question, I answer it...no matter how uncomfortable or embarrased I may be with it. There are times that I cringe at a question, but I answer it anyway...sometimes she has cringed at the answer, too. I always tell her that there is NOTHING she will do, or think about doing, that I haven't done or thought of myself. "Been there, done that, got the t-shirt." |

| Tinkerbell819 Tue 10/30/2007 11:21a | Hi Everyone! I was lurking, but couldn't log in earlier! very frustrating! I was supposed to have a j%b today, but it was just rescehduled for Thurs. Somebody sent the paperwork to the wrong notary. So, my morning was kind of wasted waiting around for documents that never arrived. At least I can still do it on Thurs. I have had so few j*bs and you know I need some Dinsey dollars and Christmas dollars! Villains, I am so upset about your Mom maybe having to back out! No, you need to go on a trip with someone normal! It would be so nice for you nice, too. (or is it cousin? From the way I was reading the story, it sounds like your Mom is raising her great niece. Is this correct? Now don't get all MM crazy and start yelling at me if this is supposed to be something you told us about already! lol) Heck, with everyboby backing out and getting j*bs, you could get the king room at Hojo's now!
MM, I'm glad your DD is handling the 1st break up well! Very mature!
Rt, thanks for the brownie recipe. I always use Betty Crocker br. mix and add mini marshmallows and choc. chips. I never had a REAL recipe that I liked. I'll have to try yours. I still have to copy down the pb&J pizza recipe from MM. I remembered that there is a bakery nearby that sells fresh pizza dough for $1. I'll use that instead of trying to make the dough myself. Last year, I bought one of those Auntie Anne's make your own pretzel kits. I was under the impression that they were going to be frozen. I got this box of dough mix and directions. You should have seen those awful looking pretzels. And they took all d**n day to make.
MN, my house was built in th 1800's, too! There is always a problem somewhere, with these old houses. When you're young and stupid they look so nice to fix up and all. Even after getting every window replaced, new siding, a new roof, there are still leaks here and there. They always start after the "warranty" is up.
TX, I'm on the fence about the bash. It sounds really fun and since I don't get many j*bs anymore, I'm hardly w*rking. I think I might be able to do it. But, I'm still undecided. Now, I'm afraid I'll get someone too young and I won't know what's cool to get them. We only have a day left to decide! (Oh, and you know I'm on the "late" side with the shopping, I wouldn't want to get a bad rep on LP!;)
I'm off for my free taco at Taco Bell~from 2-5 PM you can get a free taco today! |
