| travellerandquilter Fri 11/2/2007 2:30p | Okay, Back again after my beauty sleep!!Ha Ha. Santa just can fly around Australia with out snow. He's Santa so he just can. At the grottos on shopping centre for Santa photos there is usually snowy things and his big red suit. Maybe he has ventilation holes or it is air conditioned. That I am not sure of. In my family, which may not be the same for everybody, we have santa sacks around the lounge room with the tree in it and the presents are unwrapped. The only wrapped ones are from other people. Also maybe just my family we as parents do not give the kides presents. That does not worry my kids as they are non-believers, but I have said that 'if you dno't believe you don't receive' so they all say they believe! You guys have interesting things happening in your lives and not good. People bringing chairs out on to front lawn to watch paybacks, and SIL leaving nieces in road side toilets. Crazy. Does this mean my new friends are whacko? I certainly hope so as this fits in well with me!

| TXDISNEYNERD Fri 11/2/2007 2:56p | I think I am wacko as I originally read your post TQ as you having the trees in the santa sacks instead of the sacks being in the room with the tree. I think I am glad it is the weekend.
I hope you guys have a good weekend. I will look forward to full updates on Monday. Did Villians get her money?...Did MM get her revenge?....Did anyone get there Christmas shopping done?... How am I going to sleep with all this? <g> |

| MOLLYSMOM Fri 11/2/2007 3:06p | TQ...yes...we are whack jobs...we thought that was obvious.
I'm gonna take a stab at the term "lounge room"...is it like our "family room?"
tink, you or mater can try "grotto".
"I'll take Austrailian terms for $200, Alex." (Let's see if our Aussie pal gets THAT one.) Actually, she probably will...she rarely seems to get tripped up by our verbage.

| MOLLYSMOM Fri 11/2/2007 4:05p | TQ...I kinda thought a grotto was what you described, but I didn't want to guess wrong and look stupid.
We'll let you ponder the "Austrailian terms for $200" reference for a day or so.
I think MMW got scared off and bailed out on us.

| mater4 Fri 11/2/2007 4:35p | I have always been fascinated by the british calling the toilet a loo or bathroom watercloset. Do austrailians have a different name for it too? I bet TQ will have us talking in her language in no time. |

| travellerandquilter Fri 11/2/2007 4:54p | We usually call the toilet toilet or loo and if going to have a shower or bath it is bathroom. Often and now almost normally toilets are in their own seperate room called toilet!! Good luck on getting money. fingers crossed. |

| gottaluvdavillains Fri 11/2/2007 5:31p | well it's 5:15 and no money...
Zoo was great fun - had late lunch - early dinner at Black Angus (yummy steak with cheesy garlic bread and a salad - lots of ice tea as I had no coffee today)
Austrailain terms for $200 alex - would be from a game show called Jeapordy here in the states - it's been on for about 20 years - you play buy picking a catagory and a price - then you are given the answer and you have to give the question - so the answer is lounge room the correct response from the contestent would be What is the austrailian equivilant of a family room?
The game is usually played by regular folks but at different times each year they will have all college students and all high schoolers - you have to pass a test and then try out to play...One of my son's classmates won at teen jeapordy this past spring and went to the finals - but I forgot to watch to see if she won all the money - the teens play for a minimun amount - this girl is off at Stanford this year!!
I will email HER in the morning if I don't have the money by then....
We are slammed this weekend - DD has her final soccer game and DS11 has his last regular season game both on Saturday - then we are off to near Petaluma for the night as my sister is having her halloween party (BIL is a tugboat captain and has to work 7 days on and 7 off and this is off weekend) we will stay the night - then Sunday up early (thank goodness it's time to turn the clocks back on sunday) and back to home (about 90 min drive each way) to finish the soccer tourny from a few weeks ago that got rained out!! I doubt I will be back on line before sunday - so have a great weekend!! |
