I loved The Peoplemover and would like to see it return in a new jazzed up version. The ride itself was so unique. Ive never seen another ride like that exept at MK.(The Disneyland version being far superior)If Disney designed some new sleek vehicles, threw in a cool sound track, and some new scenery in the tunnels ,sped up the vehicles slightly you would see people lining up in droves to ride it.And Tomorrowland would make a huge leap back to its former glory! Also would somebody put the astro orbiter/rocket jets back on the pedestal where they belong?

>The Disneyland version being far superior...<

I've always thought the MK version with the linear induction motors was the superior version, but that's just my opinion.

>Also would somebody put the astro orbiter/rocket jets back on the pedestal where they belong?<

I could not agree more. I think the decision to move the jets to their current position was in so many ways one of the dumbest moves ever. It made an attraction with a bit of a thrill into just another spinner. And putting it in the TL entryway not only blocked the entryway, but its encroachment into the central plaza and the vibe of Main Street is simply unacceptable. Move it back to the pylon!!!

<I've always thought the MK version with the linear induction motors was the superior version, but that's just my opinion.>

It's probably the superior technology, but the overall experience was better at DL. The track was longer, you had changes in elevation (not possible with the LIM system at WDW), and most importantly, the view on what is essentially a scenic attraction was much better. I understand the need to put WDW's essentially in a tube, due to Florida's frequent and often sudden thunderstorms (how'd you like to be 1/4 of the way through the ride and have one of those cats-and-dogs T-storms come down on you?), but it reduces the views.

<It made an attraction with a bit of a thrill into just another spinner. And putting it in the TL entryway not only blocked the entryway, but its encroachment into the central plaza and the vibe of Main Street is simply unacceptable.

All true. AND, it also diminishes the experience of the ride while you're on it. Not only because it's not as high, but because the view on the old one used to be basically all TL. So you were "flying around TL" and it worked. Now half of every circle gives you a view of the castle, the hub and Main Street. You just can't suspend disbelief and say "hey, I'm flying over TL" any more. So not only is Main Street encroached upon by TL, the riders of the AO are encroached upon by Main Street!

It really needs to go back where it belongs.

I think when comparing propulsion systems, the MK version wins out. Otherwise, I prefer the DL version, with it's unique vehicle roofs, and track layout.

I felt the Disneyland version of The People

You're right about the linear induction motors. It seems like its a smoother ride at MK.I felt the scenery was superior at Disneyland. The ride was longer,it had the high speed tunnel,it passed through star tours,it traveled over and around the sub lagoon, intertwined with the monorail tracks, gave good views of Tomorrowland and fantasyland.e.t.c.However I like the one at MK too.As for The Astro Jets at ground level, I just thought "what in the world were they thinking?"

Don't get me wrong - I totally enjoyed DL's PM, and miss it greatly. But I still think the MK's version, with the indoor sections showing the original EPCOT model and the dark inside of Space Mountain, has an edge for me.

I think what helps DL's Peoplemover to be percieved as better ride than WDW's version ... is it's length ....... climbing .. and dipping (WDW's can't) .. and the vehicles were so recognizable from any vantage point. WDW's is hidden by railings ... and low profile vehicles .. as apposed to DL's roof design.

But once DL has it's 3rd generation Peoplemover .... it will be a cut above WDW's .. and most likely be the "champ" of them all.

While there has not been as much as a peep from the Co. .... Bean's word of it having no tie in to any Disney film has me excited.
