He means the one at DCA and the one now at MK. They are all completely different in theme. I don't think they were all developed at the same time though. Also, each one of them had to be designed to fit into a very specific space. DCA and MK had the unfortunate problem of being fairly cheap revisions on the previous attractiosn in that space. It looks like TDL's version is free from budget problems, Also, didn't they tear down the Meet the World building? So, it doesn't really have the space issues either?

<<Now that I see the errors in my ways, let me restate the question: it seems that the new TDL Monsters attraction and the new Toy Story attractions in the US are dark rides based on new interactive technology, but that they're different. It seems a bit odd that there would be two independent new dark ride interactive ride systems being built at the same time, what with all the unknowns involved.>>

Ah - gotcha now.

I can understand your point except that they are very different in their execution - Monsters is a traditional dark ride where guests are armed with flashlights and the show scenes are on both sides of the vehicle (the canopy of the ride vehicles control the view). Toy Story Midway Mania has three-car trains that are back-to-back (ie. two face one way and two the other) - so when you enter a show scene the screens are on both side of the room but you can only play one.

Also the gaming software on TSMM is incredibly powerful. The software is intelligent and can react to how you are performing (ie. make it harder or easier to get the targets). In Ride and Go Seek! the monsters can be triggered at any time in the show scene.

I've played the playtest a lot on TSMM and I must admit I absolutely love it. The visions are so much fun and the gameplay is highly addictive (and I'm not a gamer).

Leemac...The Monsters Inc. ride looks and sounds truely grand and impressive. How comes we don't get attractions like this in the american parks anymore that features tons of AA's and special effects without relying on video projections?

Well, I thought Everest was pretty grand and impressive. ;)

They still get it right in America every now and again (and wrong in Japan, by choosing for example a cookie cutter Buzz ride rather than plussing it).

^^^ or Raging Spirits, although for an off-the-shelf ride, they certainly plussed it in a lot of ways.

The looks of it are pretty neat (I LOVE that fire on water effect and wonder how they do it!), but the ride itself is lame, Lame, LAME I agree.

What a bummer they couldn't have come up with something more exciting (like, oh I dunno, EXPEDITION EVEREST which would've fit like a glove there! :p).

Well, let's wait and see what DCA's Cars and Little Mermaid attractions look like when they open...

And to bring this full circle, what the heck do little mermaids and pixar movies have to do with California?

Cars is set in a small town of from Route 66, which also runs through California. But I honestly don't think the DCA theme matters anymore and I think the whole California should just be dropped.
