*DVC made his way back down the loooong and mostly dark tunnel toward the fort. After a while, talking to himself, and plannig revenge he began to wonder if he had locked the concealed door that lead into the tunnel.

He stopped momentarily thinking about going back to check. Half of him wanted to, half of him was just too tired and worn out. As he stood there fighting within himself, he heard something far off in the direction that he had traversed.

Suddenly DVC no longer felt tired, no longer felt confused, and and was not thikning of revenge at all.

DVC turned toward the fort exit of the tunnel and began to run!

DVC swore as he ran that he heard the soft heavy paw beats against the floor of the tunnel. Now he was no longer thinking, he was running, running and nothing else. He rounded a slight curve in the wall of the tunnel and caught sight of the door into the fort. Now he remembered what it felt like as a child to be almost there, almost to safety, with the perceived monster at his heels, about to reach out, about to pounce. The tunnel seemed to stretch out for miles in contempt of DVC, toying with him. At once, he was throug the door and into the fort. SLAM! He was safe, but perhaps only for the moment. He looked around the room. In the center was the mahagony coffee table, shimmering like the surface of a crystal lake. To the right the gas log fire was still burning softly. There, at the far side of the room he caught sight of the closet door that lead up to the turret. This door was cleverly disguised as a coat closet within and without. He was through it at once, kicking the boots on the floor and getting tripped up by the long rubber mat that prevented water from flowing off of snow covered footware onto the floor. He fell but was up again and shut the door behind him. He quickly felt his way through the coats that were both disguise and practical for use. There! In the dark back wall of the closet, he grasped the small ladder that leads up through the top of the false ceiling and on to the turret. Now on the turret top DVC could see for quite some way. A gentle snow began to fall. It was cold but safe, for now.

The girls ran quickly along the tunnel, and burst into the fort, finding no one there.

Where could he be? Suddenly, Snowy Bear noticed DVC's computer screen was lit. The girls must have just missed him.

sherrytodd walked over to the computer, and was shocked to find a website called laughingplace.com pulled up. Here, DVC and some of his internet buddies had been having a cyber snow-ball fight. DVC had finished a post about climbing up the ladder hidden at the back of the coat closet.

bloona began to wonder where cyberspace ended and reality began. So she threw the door to the closet open, held her nose against the stench of boy, and bravely pushed through the wet coats hung carelessly askew in the closet. But her sacrifice was worth it--there, hidden in the back of the closet, was a ladder.

Good thing we took the left in the coat closet instead of the right. That leads to Narnia.

DVC hears the voices from below. He knows that the girls are in the coat closet. For a brief moment he realizes he may not be discovered, but his mind asks why they would be in the closet anyway. He can't think straight but he remains still. He listens intently, and feels his heart pumping in his ears. He settles himself so that he can listen. He is wound up like a spring.

He remembers a time when he was a boy at his grandmother's home in the country. He would hunt rabbits and hunting rabbits required a boy to be as silent and as steady as stone. He was emulating that now.

Then he clearly hears bloona asking someone named Snowy if she can climb ladders. DVC instantly knows 2 things. One, He knows that there is a new girl named Snowy? Who is that? And two, that he is discovered!

In a flash DVC is across the turret. He places his thumb on a clear square of glass. A light flickers from within the glass and verifies that he is he, causing a small metal panel just below to slide open. Inside is a control console, which slides out and locks into place. On the console are six lit buttons, not unlike those one might see on the controls of a ride at Disneyland. One is yellow, one red, one blue, green, purple, and non-colored or white. He presses the white button with a slap of his palm and the theme music from James Bond 007, echos through the forrest and fort, in loud stero surround sound.

He then pounds the red button, spins around to verify that the inside wall across from him opens. It does. He quickly runs over. As the four foot long section is revealed, DVC reaches inside frantically grabbing at the strange contents. Out comes some large combersome contraption all folded back upon itself, metal pipes, fabric with odd white blue and red markings of some sort, ropes and cogs and odd things all attached together as one large mechanism.

As the James Bond music plays on, DVC opens the contraption. With trained and skilled hands, he quickly snaps the support pipes into place. He slides the nylon fabric down each side of the contraption and zips it all the way around. He then puts the final snaps and catches into place to finalize the piece of equipment. It is somewhat together but doesn not seem complete in assembly. The thing looks familiar but if seen by the girls in this state, it would not be recognizable.

DVC lays the large 3 meter by 2 meter, cumbersome thing down. He runs to the console. He slaps at the purple button. He leaps to his right to snatch the wind suit out of its hiding place that the purple button provides. DVC quickly jumps in the white snow suit and zips it up.

The James Bond theme still playing on...DVC pulls a cap over his head, hoists the large cumbersom contraption above his head, climbs up on the turret and ................jumps.........

007 music pauses......silence......

.....falling, fallling.......

As the 007 Bond Theme Music begins again...wooooosh...as the wind hits this thing, the overhead view of DVC_dad is lost underneath the moving cogs and posts and fabric...then the thing pops outward into one piece, revealing (and in conjunction with the climax of the 007 theme music) revealing the true color of the fabric, the British Flag, on the material covereing the wings of what is now a Hang Glider!!!

The music ends as DVC glides safely across the tall pine trees of the surrounding forrest, gaining altitude on the snowy winds.

He reaches into his chest pocket of the jumpsuit. He presses the button on the key fob, causing all hidden panels back on the turret to slide closed. Only the console with the lit buttons reamins open.
