| Bob Paris Tue 11/6/2007 8:08a | In his new article on Miceage, Kevin Yee details a recent trip to the TDR and how much he loved it. This first article deals(rather too quickly, too, IMO)with TDL.
It is almost funny to read a virgin American's amazement that, yes, they actually DO keep the paint fresh and bright at TDL(SHOCK!!!!). For those that don't know, Kevin is now based in Orlando so all he has for comparison is the MK with its bird poop railings and execs who couldn't give a toos because another three plane loads of badly dressed fat English tourists just landed at MCO.
Kevin does give the entrance and World Bazaar's "industrial"(his word)covering a real tongue lashing. Almost justifiable in my opinion. But then, at no MK style park I ever visited was Main Street the main draw for me anyway.
His series concludes on Thursday with a look at TDS, which he said he went weak at the knees over.
Can't wait! |

Main Street isn't a main course, it's an appetizer. Gotta say though, the one in DLP is *really* tasty. |

Something that could definitely be improved with Tokyo Disneyland. At least they got everything right with Tokyo DisneySea, with the stunningly beautiful MiraCosta framing Mediterranean Harbor as the main entrance. The two parks provide a very nice contrast; Tokyo Disneyland provides the magic and whimsy, while Tokyo DisneySea provides the breathtaking theming and attention to detail. |

However, on the way out, it's a little less perfect. While the budget for the park was clearly more than I would know what to do with, they saved some money on the Mira Costa facade facing into the park. The trompe loei (sp?) paintings fit the period well, but are less impressive than the stone work that the other side of the building has. This lets you have the huge, grand first impression, but later allows you to see the not-quite-as-nice (but still amazing, just clearly cheaper) back side of the hotel without ruining the first impression. Very well done, IMO, especially since most people exit through there after it's dark and you can't really see that anyway. |

| TDR_Fan Tue 11/6/2007 11:16p | That would be *palatial*. |
