we are going to WDW Dec 8-12. we plan to go to the Christmas party Dec 9. i was planning on purchasing my tickets around Dec 1st. is there a chance if i wait that long they will sell out? do any of their nights sell out in advance? any info on this would be appreciated. thanks.

Some of the nights do sell in advanced and those nights that sold out are posted in the official WDW site. However, be awared that there is no way to know if any particular night will sell out or not, reason why it's a good idea to buy the tickets well ahead of time if you are going for sure.

^^^^^ Yup, I agree with TDLFAN. I bought our tickets for next Firday the day they came out, back in early summer. I don't know if that night is sold out yet, but at least I know for sure that we'll be there!

They do the MVMCP so often now and sell so many more tickets per night... that I actually believe it would be hard for any nights to sell out, except for maybe the last one or two.
