Fri 11/23/2007 6:48p | The Wednesday number was great, but a drop on Thursday was a little dissapointing. I doubt it will have much baring on the eventual legs this film will get though, especially considering the very positive word of mouth it seems to be getting.
Enchanted had a rather interesting choice of release dates, as movies usually come out the week before Thanksgiving. Not sure if that will hurt it's eventual gross or not. Right now it looks like it's headed toward a 50+ million five day weekend, which is quite good. With an opening like that, a total gross of $180+ million plus should be in the cards. |

I have a hunch the word-of-mouth is going to be exceptionally positive on this film and that it is also pretty likely to get a fair amount of repeat viewing. The opening weekend is likely to be very good, but I suspect it will retain very well over the coming weeks.

It is actually, and it is unusual that a new movie would drop on Thanksgiving. However, again I don't think that it will mean too much in the long term. Early unconfirmed reports are that Enchanted will be quite big on Friday (in the 10-13 million) range. |
