| Witches of Morva Sun 2/17/2008 6:11a | ORWEN: Oh, yes Disney IS in the business of selling out of popular merchandise and just ending the product. Ratatouille merchandise is already disappearing, too. That's the way Disney does things these days with their merchandise even when a movie is popular.
ORDDU: Yes, it sounds as though SportGoofy is just making things up as he goes along without knowing how things really are. For years, now, Disney has been making limited edition merchandise on their latest animated films--even when they're big hits. When there is a re-issue of something, merchandise for the film in question will pop up again, whiche means you have to buy it as soon as you see it if you really want it.
ORWEN: Sometimes the Disney Stores will surprise us with unexpected things, though; such as when they came out with some new plushes on Bernard and Bianca from The Rescuers a little while ago. But those have already disappeared. So much of the character merchandise Disney does these days is limited edition. |

If something is successful Disney will keep making and selling it.
Pooh, anyone?!!! |

| JeffG Tue 2/19/2008 6:46p | Of course Disney makes limited edition merchandise for all their films, but it certainly isn't the >only< merchandise that they produce unless the demand for the title is pretty limited. If this film develops a huge following on video (which I think is a possibility), I have absolutely doubt whatsoever that Disney will renegotiate any contracts necessary to keep producing merchandise in large quantities.
What I find kind of funny about this thread is that a few posters seem to be arguing against something that nobody has said. Not a single person that I've seen has said that the movie is anything less than a success. What several have pointed out is that it wasn't a runaway blockbuster and that it possibly fell a bit short of some of the expectations that were generated by the extremely positive early reviews and some of the pre-release buzz.
To be honest, I doubt very much that the film's box-office performance was significantly below Disney's projections based on the type of film it was. As has already been noted, the numbers domestically were very much in line with what "The Princess Diaries" (the most obvious comparison) did and it actually did considerably better than that film overseas. The movie is unquestionably a hit and I'm sure Disney was quite happy with it. It just doesn't make much sense to pretend that it was bigger than it was.

Sarah watched it for the 1st time on the plane. She said it was fun, but predictable and overrated. Sorry Enchanted fans. |

Anybody besides me hoping against hope that there ISN'T a sequel?
Eh, thought not. |

Nu? |

| Mickeymouseclub Tue 3/11/2008 3:14p | No I think an emergency situation will require Giselle to return to the animated enchanted land and she will discover she is truly a princess by long lost relatives or something.Disney has to make her an official Princess! I also do not understand how she is introduced pre-parade at DL as Princess Giselle? |

| Mickeymouseclub Tue 3/11/2008 3:17p | Ha I just re-read that and I can not believe I am worried about anyone's legal rights to be called a Princess. Need to spend more time figuring out how any of our future Presidents deserve that title....and past... |

| Mickeymouseclub Tue 3/11/2008 3:21p | I just re-read that and it sounds like I am calling our President a Princess. Is Hilary a Princess in real life? I do not want any admined responses to what Hilary is in real life. Thanking all to keep those thoughts to themselves. Just a fair warning because I am the one that usually reports comments to be admined. |
