If a ride breaks down and you are in line or even thinking about getting in line..
How long will you wait before you bale out?

Depends upon which ride it is and what the lines are like in the park that day. If it's a max. capacity day and big ride, I'll wait 30 minutes. Otherwise, I bail.

On most of the rides that break down (which are usually the big ones that always have a long line), I'll usually wait about 10 minutes to get an announcement. If they don't say anything, I'll probably peace out. If they say it will be a while, I'll leave too. If they say it will be quick (sometimes it actually is) I'll most likely wait it out.

If it's a dark ride, those usually come back in 20 minutes and I wait and end up in the front of the line. For the rest, I leave right away.

I don't know if there's any current or former cm with extensive knowledge... but it would be interesting to know about how long a typical minimum breakdown is. (Obviously, if it's not just a simple problem, ANY ride could be down for a long time).

As berol said, dark rides usually come back quickly, as their systems are quite simple. But something that requires more extensive safety checks may be (just stabbing in the dark here) a 30 minute minimum even if it's a minor problem, quickly discovered. Something with extensive safety checks and computer re-booting (Indy?), perhaps longer.

If I knew that even in a best-case scenario I was looking at 40 minutes of downtime, say, I'd probably just bail and come back later. If I knew that even on THIS particular e-ticket, it could be back and running in 10, I'd stay. So if anyone knew the basics of this for various rides, that would be helpful information to have.

I was at the front of the line for Splash when they cleared all the logs and told us to wait. By the time we had waited it out, it was about 15 minutes. I still don't know what the deal was LOL

We were in line for Indy last year and it went down....they cleared the queue and gave us fastpasses for anytime to come back, but they didn't let anyone actually wait in line for it to come back up. I know it was back up an hour later when we went by again, not sure how long from the time it went down to when it came back up though.

I usually lose patience after about 10 minutes.

The only ride I will wait any length in time for during a breakdown is Gadget's Go Coaster.

Go-Go Gadget Coaster !!!!
All times are Pacific Time (US)
