when was Roger Rabbit pulled out of the parade? I kinda had a feeling it was comming sooner or later considering he had been dismissed from the Conductor's podium in SpectroMagic

I think he was replaced by Woody on the rocking horse - I am pretty sure Woody used to be on the blocks that Buzz comes out of - I will have to ride soarin to see for sure!!

Roger Rabbit hasn't been in the Christmas parade for quite a few years. Probably since sometime in the 1990's. I'm sure someone here will know the exact year of his last appearance.

Woody and Buzz both have what looks to me to be new "blocks" floats this year.

i love parade, but if you watch past versions on youtube, y ou notice that more and more seems to have disappeared. the parade of the past was much longer and included alot more characters. at one time alice in wonderland was in the parade. also the various disney couples, i.e. mulan and her prince, hercules and meg, esmerelda and i think quasi, winnie the pooh and friends were also in the parade. all gone now.

Yes, there's no doubt that the A Christmas Fantasy parade has "shrunk" from what it was when it first started. The "Mickey's Christmas Carol" float has been MIA for several years now, among other things. I have very fond memories of the Christmas parades from the 1980's, which had more representations of the classic animated films. I miss those days!

For what it's worth, I saw it again yesterday, and the roller skating snowflakes didn't have the snowflakes on their backs. From what I can tell from my pictures from earlier this year, they were wearing the same costumes, but just didn't have the snowflakes on their backs. They looked like elves in all white, and just sort of generally out of place in the middle of the Winter Wonderland section. They were still doing the same choreography, which is really spread out when they don't have the giant snowflakes attached to them. It was probably just a temporary change for whatever reason, but it still looked a little funny. The people who I was with didn't know they were supposed to have snowflakes and were all commenting on how cute their outfits were, so I guess it wasn't the end of the world.

must have been windy the day you went so they cut the back snowflakes and sent the girls out anyways.

That might explain it. They did cancel the fireworks later. I wouldn't say it was that windy, but there was an occasional breeze, which I guess is a lot by SoCal standards. It makes sense that they would ditch the snowflakes for that, but at the same time it seems a little strange that it doesn't take much for them to go out without them. They really do make a big difference on that part of the parade, IMO, and their choreography looks very stiff and just generally weird without them.

Was it day time - We were told - and of course this could be wrong - that they wear the whole costume at night because it is all wired with lights - during the day they skip it since you can't see the lights...

^^^I'm not sure if being in daylight makes a difference. I saw the daytime parade three times. Fist time they didn't wear the snowflakes, then they did, and then they didn't again.
