>>But there is another I am trying to remember where she is followed home by a gent because he picked up her umbrella by mistake at a lecture...Does that make any sense to anyone here...It is so on the tip of my tongue but my tongue and brain aren't connecting right now....>>

I think that was "The Wings of the Dove"

>>And some thought she was the weak link in the movie. For me it's the two that play Joanna and Anthony.<<

I agree! I have no idea why people thought she was one of the weaker parts of the movie. I think Helena's faaaabulous, and I loved her in this role.

Dar, Fight Club? Are you serious??? Maybe I am missing something here...

Three, Wings of the Dove???? Maybe I am getting my actors and films mixed up...I am wanting to think that she was in this film but am now beginning to wonder if I am thinking of something a little more comtemporary than her work in the Merchant Ivory films...What I am thinking of was a period piece that would fit into those films that she did...I have seen so many of these things they all seem to run together...What was the one where the young suitor is killed when a bookcase falls over on him towards the end of the film...I am quickly coming to the conclusion I have no idea what I am talking about since all of these different films are just a jumbled mess in my mind for the moment....Regardless, as I said above, I found her most impressive long before she started doing really more mainstream roles as she has over the last few years....

Three, I think I am wanting to say the film I am trying to think of his "Howard's End"...Still not sure but I do believe that is the one that start's out with the umbrella bit I mentioned...In fact, was she that took his umbrella? And I want to think the lad ends up getting done in with the bookcase....

Side not question...So what is Tim Burton up to at the moment...I read the bit about his return to Disney but is there anything in the works right now??

2/3, the umbrella bit was definitely in "Howard's End". Good movie.

ditto. And I haven't seen some of them for a long time. I just have a vague memory of a scene in a museum near the beginning of Wings of the Dove.
