Okay I'm completely addicted to this film. I've watched it at least five times, downloaded the soundtrack off iTunes. I've been singing to it just about everyday. I'm thinking this might not be my favorite musical ever but maybe one of my favorite movies ever.

Which is strange because I can maybe count the number of musicals I like on one hand. I'm not including the Disney fare. So I thought this was funny.

Well I must admit the film moves onto my top ten list of all time favorites...Weird thing is the idea that there is already two Tim Burton films there...I think I am going have to rethink my list and change it to a top twenty instead of ten...

The movie is spectacular. I've been skipping around just watching Helena Bonham Carter's stuff, specifically "Worst Pies" and "By the Sea." I can't get over how good she is.

And some thought she was the weak link in the movie. For me it's the two that play Joanna and Anthony.

Target was sold out of the 2-disc edition, but I'm finding that a lot of the extras are getting posted to youtube now, so I don't know if I need to keep buying deluxe editions.

To me, this falls in the category of "guilty pleasure" - I feel a bit weird for liking it so much.

I hate to say it, but Johnny Depp was the actor that I was a little let down by. What he did was adequate for the part, and I loved his Bowie-channeled voice. But I just didn't think he took the part to the next level.

really? when i saw it the preview i have to admit that i was kinda worried. To me the preview made him seem like capt. jack pissed off. But when i saw the movie, none of that came to be. He completely blew me away. His singing and the way he portrayed the character just wowed me.

And i agree Helena is terrific in the role of mrs.lovetts!!! i can't get over how funny and quirky she is. love her!

Well I fell in love with Helena many years ago as she did all of the Ivory Merchant films...I still like the line in one of the reviews of Sweeney that I read that said her hair style looked as if it were done with an egg beater...As my memory fades I go out on a limb here...I think the first time I saw her was in "Room with a View"...Wonderful film...But there is another I am trying to remember where she is followed home by a gent because he picked up her umbrella by mistake at a lecture...Does that make any sense to anyone here...It is so on the tip of my tongue but my tongue and brain aren't connecting right now....
