| sherrytodd Thu 2/7/2008 2:34p | But I think that Desmond goes back when the 6 go back.
Here's my theory but it's a possible spoiler if right so I don't want to make anyone mad so read forward at your own risk...
You've been warned....
The ones that go back, don't just go back. They get the opportunity to change the one decision in their life that they regretted. In the flash forwards Jack keeps refering to his father because his father is not dead. Jack did not turn him in. Kate is not running from the law because she did not kill her step-father. Hurley did not win the lottery. But they are discovering that it was the wrong decision. Ben was given a list of who to take and who to leave on the island. This list most likely came from Jacob. The ones left are the ones who have something in their past that they would be tempted to go back and change. When Mr. Eko's brother Yemi who was actually Smoky came for him he was trying to get him to admit his regret for his life. Mr Eko refused saying that he did not regret the life he lived. That is why Smoky (most likely Jacob) killed him. He warned Locke before he died by telling him that they were next. We have already seen when Desmond went back in a flashback in the previous season. He almost asked Penny to marry him and even went so far as to buy the ring, but he knew that he was the one who had to turn the key so he went back, and made the decision to not change his past. That is why Desmond can see the future. But Desmond can see the future after the hatch blew up which would lead me to believe that he goes back later with the others and not at the time that the hatch blew up. |

So the person Kate has to get back to is...
the step-father? |

However, evidence from the flash-forwards shows that they were on the flight -- Jack has his Gold Pass and Hurley says, "I'm one of The Oceanic Six" |

Also, had heard about all the Hs and Os in 4x01 last week, but just heard the coolest theory. So when Jack and Hurley played Horse, Jack had HO. Charlie said Hurley say him in the convenience store by the Ho-Hos, and there was a small statue of an H and an O behind Abaddon in the hospital. H is the 8th letter of the alphabet and O the 15th. And Ho is the chemical symbol for Holmium, a metallic element with the highest magnetic qualities of any element. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H olmium How evil genius of them to put that in there. But does it mean that Hurley's still connected to the island or maybe not even off the island - perhaps all in his head? Hmmm |

As for time travel, watch the Orchid Orientation Film http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Orch id_Orientation_film |
