12	wonderingalice Sat 1/5/2008 5:32a	Right! (You didn't Google to find the answer, didya? ;-) There's a story behind this for me... When I was a little girl living in So. Cal., my grandparents would have me stay over at their place once in awhile - for fun or to babysit if my parents took the rare evening out for fun. During college basketball season, they'd listen to UCLA games on the radio at night while I was lying in bed in the next room. Through the wall, I'd hear, over and over again... "Lew Alcindor! Lew Alcindor!" Obviously, after he made basket after basket after basket. Never saw them play in person or on TV, just heard the radio games. Fast forward to the late '70s and a commemorative book of "Life" magazine content over the years (coincidentally, seen at my grandparents home here in LV - they relocated here a few years after my family did). What do I see, but a photo of Kareem Abdul Jabbar in a UCLA uniform and a caption mentioning his former name! *LOL* That was when I found out they were one and the same. Pretty cool, I though! :-)
