| marc66 Sat 1/12/2008 2:32p | When does everyone book their airfare? Our trip is @ the end of July. Should I wait and possibly risk the rates going up or book now? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

| RoadTrip Sat 1/12/2008 3:43p | I usually set a target price for my airfare about 6-9 months in advance. If I find something that hits my target (or comes close) I usually buy it. If I haven't booked a flight by about 60 days out I just go for the cheapest thing I can find at that time.
AirTran and Sun Country are usually pretty good for fares close to when you are leaving. They never offer some of the really big discounts that the majors do in advance; but on the other hand they never charge as much as the majors do for a late purchase.

Now, fares are running over $235 rt. When you are buying for a family of four, that's a lot. I am thinking that it is because gas prices are so high. |

Airlines typically place seats on sale overnight on Tuesday and make them available on Wednesday morning. So, if you can't find anything today, check again on Wednesday and there might be some lower fares posted. I've found this to work many times for me. |
