There's now info out on Carly. Basically says that she has made a few albums, had a record deal, and pretty much failed. Now under her husband's last name, wasn't picked up on....until now. Carly Hennesey, now Smithson. Is this fair? She had her shot and failed miserably. Should someone who hasn't had a shot, ever, be given that opportunity....

I just read that article, too. I was curious about the rules for another reason, if it's "American" Idol, isn't the contestant required to be an American?
Apparently not.

>>As usual, some of the final 24 got very little airtime from the earlier auditions or even Hollywood week, leaving me to say "who was that one, again?"<<

That was lame. Maybe it's always been like this for the Hollywood week, but I don't remember it being this bad. It seemed so scattered and random. It would be like an hour into the show and they'd suddenly say "And remember Michelle from Omaha!" and I'd think, "Oh yeah, I wondered how she'd do." Then they'd show you how she blew it in the first round and was back for her second round chance, only to still get cut. And I'm thinking, "Oh, ok." Then suddenly they show the remaining people to go up the elevator and I don't recognize half of them.

It just seems weird and like Hollywood week (as others have said) should be at least two weeks.

yes, they are just talking about this season though in that article. there have been a large handful of contestants in the past, too.

I think they just have to be unsigned at the time of audition (or maybe while filming). A lot of past contestants have had musical histories.

<<I wonder if they'll let contestants play instuments for the live show?>>

I asked this before; the answer is "yes."

David A. is my favorite - and not just because he's from Utah.

I was disappointed with the guys tonight. I'm hoping for better from the ladies.
