Garret with his creepy peach fuzz that in a few years could be a molestache.

I thought the guys were, well, boring.

So far I'm thinking the same thing about the ladies but we're only 2 into it. Hope this season gets better fast.

Little Girl with Big Voice (as the judges keep calling her) was good though so that was a relief. Her name sounds like a 50s do-wop. Not that that's a bad thing...

Of the girls tonight Amy was the only one I would label as truly bad. Joanne was safe and boring. I don't get the love for Carly she's just okay to me. Kady and Christy were decent but they need to better than decent. That leaves the remaining seven girls and I thought they were all really good. If I were to rank tonight I'd say:

1. Syesha
2. Amanda
3. Asia'h
4. Ramele
5. Alaina
6. Alexandria
7. Brooke
8. Christy
9. Kady
10. Carly
11. Joanne
12. Amy

For the guys:
1. Michael
2. David A
3. Jason C
4. David C
5. Robbie
6. David H
7. Colton
8. Chikeze
9. Jason Y
10. Danny
11. Luke
12. Garrett

The girls should give the boys a run for their money this year.

Kristy Lee Cook: A one note performance, I thought. A good sound, but very repetitious. And is it just me, or does she have the creepiest, deadest eyes?

Joanne Borgella: Her song got away from her. She kind of disappeared on the low notes, and was a bit shrieky on the high ones. Maybe it was just nerves.

Alaina Whitaker: She has such a pure sweet voice, and it was a great song choice. She needs to watch the simpering, though.

Amanda Overmyer: What??? What was that?

Amy Davis: This was just a dreadful, dreadful performance. Wobbly, flat, scooping and sliding into notes. Bye bye!

Brooke White: Not a good song choice, but a really good voice. She needs to be more confident.

Alexandrea Lushington: A good, powerful voice in a very confident performance.

Kady Mallory: A solid, if ordinary performance. Some of her facial expressions were a bit alarming.

Asia'h Epperson: Wonderful performance. Pushed a little on the high notes, but otherwise a very good job.

Ramele Malubay: Great performance. Nice build to a big finish. I was a little worried that it was going a bit karaoke at the beginning.

Syesha Mercado: Wow! Good presence, great performance. She really brought it home.

Carly Smithson: Good song choice. What a fabulous, pure voice. My only minor criticism is that she needs to avoid wincing when she hits the high notes. (And Simon is wrong!)

After a couple of dull performances, the girls were really quite good tonight. Amy Davis, obviously, needs to go home. Then, perhaps, Kristy or Joanne. But it's hard to say, aside from Amy, that there are any truly bad singers in this bunch.
