I was sorry to see Asia'h go (I would have sent Kristy home), but the other three were no surprise.
If I had to rank them now based on how I like them - I guess it would be:

1. David A.
2. Syeshia
3. Carly
4. Amanda
5. Chikezie
6. Michael
7. David H.
8. Ramiele
9. Brooke
10. David C.
11. Jason
12. Kristy

Having said that... most talented group ever? I don't think so. I don't think any of them hold a candle to Melinda vocally, for starters.

Based on how I think they'll do, it's more like:

1. David A.
2. Brooke
3. Carly
4. Michael
5. David C.
6. Syeshia
7. Jason
8. Ramiele
9. David H.
10. Chikezie
11. Amanda
12. Kristy

I got home late and missed the first 3. DH said Chikeze was really good. I'll watch that part in the am. From the contestants I saw, I liked David C. the most.

David C. and Brooke had "it." Completely believable.

I think Carly has an awesome voice, but I still don't like her on-camera appearance. When she sings, she looks like she is angry, in pain, or not enjoying it.

Chikezie's performance was also very good; I'd rank him just behind Carly. I marked him down for being goofy-looking moving around the stage.

First up was Syesha doing "Got to Get You Into My Life" - just kind of eh for me.

Chickeze did "She's a Woman" and OMG - wow - I LOVED it! He did a really, really great job tonight IMO - loved it from start to finish.

Next up is Ramiele - she chose "In My Life", possibly one of my top 10 Lennon/McCartney songs... she has a really beautiful voice, but I'm not too fond of the way she sang this didn't like the arrangement - too boring.

Jason Castro - Oh, no! He's an Aggie! But, I've liked him before knowing he was an Aggie so hopefully he'll do a good job with "If I Fell" here... I liked it more than Randy did, that's for sure - I thought it was quite nice.

Carly - first off, let me say I adore this young lady - think she's very talented and one of the three ladies who I adore this season. She chose "Come Together" and I gotta say - this girl can SING! Pretty good version of the song, but not as good as the original in my book. She's definitely through to next week.

David Cook - doing "Eleanor Rigby" which just happens to be another of my favorites... not likjing the arrangement at all here in the first 30 seconds. Picked up at Father Mackenzie. Liked the middle and end SO much better than the first verse.

On to Brooke - yay, I adore this girl! Now, let's see what she's singing tonight... ""Let it Be" - ooooooooo, if she pulls this off, it will be GREAT. Lovely job, absolutely lovely. Whereas Ramiele's song bored me because it was so reserved, Brooke's did not at all. Oh, but I don't like her dress at all. Good thing we don't vote on their fashion. ;)

David Hernandez - "I Saw Her Standing There" - kind of a simplistic song, so here's hoping he does something special with it. Totally karaoke IMO. He is capable of so much more than this. Ok, I liked the last 30 seconds of it, but overall, I'd say he's in jeopardy of being in the bottom 3 tomorrow. But he sure is nice to look at. ;)

Amanda - the last of the 3 women that I adore. She reminds me VERY much of a young, non drug-addled version of a friend of mine who is an INCREDIBLE singer, but her personal life is just a wreck due to her many years of drug and alcohol abuse. "You Can't Do That" - a kind of simplistic song, but I really liked what she did with it.

Side note - ooooh! Parker Posey and Claire from Six Feet Under - I'm TOTALLY gonna watch this new show on Fox!

Now, back to AI - Michael Johns. I *love* this man. He did Queen duriung the auditions and pulled it off. Won me over right then and there, as I LOVE Queen and think Freddie Mercury was the greatest vocalist this world has ever seen. "Across the Universe" - GREAT GREAT song, let's see how he does... OH, yeah! He nailed it!

Kristy - pretty girl, and I like the country twang, but let's see how she does with tonight's song, "Eight Days a Week", countrified. Tempo was too fast - had she slowed it down, I'd have liked it a lot more. I think this could be a big country hit, but just not my cup of tea.

And now my least favorite Idol contestant of the year - David A. "We Can Work it Out" - likely the most misogynistic song the Beatles ever did. And I LOVE that the little puke forgot his lyrics. TOO funny! Seriously, my dislike of him aside, I thought this was BAD. HE forgot his lyrics at least twice as far as I can tell.

In trouble tonight - Syesha, Ramiele, David H, and David A.

Going home - I WISH David A, but I know that won't happen anytime soon. :( I think Syesha may be the one to go.

My favorite performances tonight:

Chikezie
Carly
Brooke

I like Amanda, but she is starting to become a one trick pony. Petty, but I can't get past David Cook's hair - no matter how good he can sound.

Syesha: "Got to Get You Into My Life" - Liked it better than the judges did. In fact, I think it was in the top 3. I think she was hurt by the fact that everyone is quite familiar with the EWF arrangement, and she basically just aped it. BUT she sang it really well, which is supposed to be the bottom line, right?

Chickeze: "She's a Woman" - Best of the night, hands down. Argyle sweater aside (??), this was great. Except the stutter thing. That was a risk that didn't quite pan out. But the rest of it did. Fun, fresh, and he sounded fantastic.

Ramiele: "In My Life" - I liked this much better than the judges. She really connected to the lyric in the way the judges SAID Brooke did. Not that Brooke didn't, but Ramiele did too. I thought it just shone through and was actually kind of touching. I think what hurt her with the judges is that she was the first of the night to basically just do a "straight" version, i.e. one that hewed fairly close to the Beatles' original. Unconsciously, they punished her for that. She sang it well AND connected to it. She's probably in trouble due to their comments, but shouldn't be.

Jason Castro: "If I Fell" - Perfectly fine but didn't stand out, for me.

Carly: "Come Together" - I thought when they announced it that it was a strange choice, as this song has only a half-octave range. She extended that a little bit by changing up the melody (judiciously) in places, but the main thing is that she sang that main half-octave well. She messed up the lyric (mashing different verses together), but with this song, only a real Beatles-head would even know. Mainly, she sang it with absolute confidence and sold it big time.

David Cook: "Eleanor Rigby" - last week he took the insipid "Hello" and made it tolerable, which I give him props for. This week he took a great song and did it well enough, in the same style. Again, taking a ballad and making emo-rock out of it... it was fine, but he shouldn't go to that well TOO often or it will start getting old. It still seems fresh for now, and the judges rewarded him for it.

Brooke: "Let it Be" - She obviously loves this song, and sang it just fine. She wasn't any better than Ramiele, but the judges thought she was. Simon obviously adores this girl. I have nothing against her, and she DID sing it well, but I think she's been overpraised so far.

David Hernandez: "I Saw Her Standing There" - A disaster. One of the all-time, sure-fire raveups and he butchered it. I've played in bands since I was 14, and I think ALL of them have done this song. It's a can't-miss. If you can't excite a crowd with THIS song, there's something wrong. There was something wrong. He didn't show off his voice, he looked like a bad 40-year old Vegas lounge lizard, and he just MISSED what makes this a great rocker. I mean, he didn't rock AT ALL.

Amanda: "You Can't Do That" - Good choice, and did anyone notice she didn't change the genders in the song? And that her audience members were captioned as her "friend" and family? Hmmmmmmm. (in a good way). Yeah, Simon, she slurred some words. Mick Jagger's only been making a living at that for 45 years. Sometimes it's BETTER to slur them. Anyway, loved it.

Michael Johns: "Across the Universe" - He's the most charismatic guy this year. Probably the most charismatic of either gender. I liked it better than the judges, although Simon is partially right - he hasn't done a song in a while that REALLY showcases his strengths. But even when he doesn't, his charisma carries him. And he can sing.

Kristy : "Eight Days a Week" - When she said she was going to do it country, my immediate thought was that it could work beautifully. I instantly heard this Texas swing version in my head that would have been perfect for her. But no. She did this manic cut-time thing instead that killed it (and possibly her chances). Terrible, terrible arrangement, which was a shame because she actually sang better than she has in a while.

David A.: "We Can Work it Out" - He really fell down tonight, although he undoubtedly has enough good will stored up to get enough votes to stay. But a big mistake to go with the Stevie version if you can't sing like Stevie. David's got a good voice, but not that KIND of voice, and he should have known Randy would be all over him for that. Plus, he forgot the words (and SHOWED it)... a mess, as Simon said.

Still, I don't think he'll go home: in danger I think would be David H., Kristy, and (unfairly) Ramiele and Syesha. Kristy probably has the least goodwill stored up (I was kind of surprised she made the top 12), so it might be her to leave. On the other hand, she's the only singer country fans have to vote for this year. On the other-other hand, she did such a corny arrangement that only non-country fans would think WAS country, that actual country fans might have been put off by it.

Best: Chickeze.

I don't mind David Cook's voice but we all thought he looked like a "jerk" (not my word of choice) last night. He looked like he thought he was so hot but he's not hitting the mark for me. I know, I know, rock stars always have that attitude. So, his voice is okay but I can't stand watching him. (Hello, MTV generation here.)

I agree that Chickeze (sp?) was the best (except for the argyle sweater. LOL). David H. just creeps me out with his eyebrow singing. I think he was definitely the worst.

I thought Ramiele was really, really boring. I like her a lot but the song bored us all.

I like Carly, I like the tatts and think she's talented but she needs to quit singing crappy Celine Dion-type songs. You don't see a lot of tattooed people singing Celine...and that's a good thing. ;-)
