Kristy hangs on again, and Amanda goes home. The one thing that I can say about that is that maybe there is potential in Kristy; she could pull one out of the hat and surprise us with a song that suits her. Amanda on the other hand, we'd probably already seen her best two weeks ago.

Not that I disliked Amanda but she was the one performer that I was pretty much over a couple of weeks ago. Been there, done that, kind of thing. Well not me, OK, you know what I mean.

Now, there isn't anyone in the top 10 that I'd be glad to see go home. Usually there is someone that we can't stand, grates on our nerves, shouldn't be there anyway, etc. Even Kristy, while I'm not keen on her singing style, has such a pleasing personality that I'd be sorry to see her go. Strange season.

Well, I wasn't surprised to see Kristy in the bottom group again, but I do like her. I didn't like her song the other night, though - at all. I thought it would be Ramiel included rather than Carly, though. As for Amanda - sorry- her style simply does not appeal to me. Bye, bye, screamy-rocker-chick. Bye-bye.

They all have their own thang; Amanda's was just more, or maybe that should be less... appealing. She was never gonna win anyway.

Amanda was never going to win, but I was sorry to see her leave. She was genuine, she had some grit, and as another site said, the tour could have USED her, as some of the others kind of blend together, while she definitely stands apart... oh well.

I like Kristy's personality, and she can sing - she's just not much of a performer. I think country fans have no one else to go to this year, which is maybe why she's survived (albeit in the bottom three).

Is it just me, or did Amanda actually look a little relieved at the news?

Sometimes I'm glad when a contestant goes home because it's better for them overall. Amanda is one of those contestants.

She's a real unique spirit, with a great look and a neat voice and style.

She not only didn't win American Idol, but she also doesn't have to tour with the 'Top 10.'

She'll get some nice promotion out of her participation on the show, and be able to start doing her music in the types of clubs and venues she wants.

I think Amanda will have a nice career ahead of her, if she wants it.

Kristy's days are numbered though. She just isn't strong enough vocally, to hack it.

And while I like David A.'s voice, there's something about him -- his 'gee gosh' sort of reaction when someone says he did a good job -- makes him seem ingenuous to me. Anyone else feel that way?

Or am I just cruel?

Not me, but a lot of people feel that way. You only have to remember last season; Melinda Doolitle was criticized for the same thing. I think people are wary of anyone that seems too happy. No one can possibly be that way, right? I think it's a rather sad commentary about human nature, where a guy like David A. is pegged as a fake, but a guy like Danny Noriega is cool.

I think she almost prefers it that way. I've heard that the AI tours are tightly controlled and come with a lot of strings attached. I just can't imagine her being able ot fit into that environment.

It would have been interesting, though, listening to her sing the super-sappy ballad they always come up with for the last show. I'd pay good money to watch her butcher that!!

Regarding David A - remember he's so young. He lives in our area and I know some kids that go to school with him. They tell me he's very well liked but extremely shy, plus just barely 17. So even though he's experienced (star search, I think) I kind of feel bad for him when people dislike him so - maybe some of his gee-gosh demeanor is merely youth/shyness.

Not saying you dislike him, Jim in Merced, I was referring more to earlier posts in this thread :)

I am not really a big fan of David A and I am not sure how to say this w/o sounding really mean but when I watch him, I feel as if he is just slightly...different, not autistic, but something like that. He is just so awkward. I know he's young but it seems like a little more than just that. I'm not sure what it is, it's hard to put a finger on since it's so slight. But he doesn't seem fake to me, or that he is faking modesty.

Or, maybe I'm seeing things that aren't there. After seeing some of the things my son has gone through, I just look at people differently.

Also, didn't he almost lose his voice entirely for a medical reason? Maybe he just feels so lucky and grateful everytime he sings well because he almost lost that ability, completely.

I am surprised by how vehemently some people seem to hate him. He's just a kid and even if he breathes through is mouth, I haven't heard any stories about him being a jerk or mistreating people. :-(
