Michael Johns: I think this was his best, and it was the best of the night. He had some REAL SOUL in his voice, which I don't really remember hearing before, and it surprised me in a good way.

David Cook: Not his best, but if he can more than hold his own on Dolly Parton week, he'll be fine. And his hair was way better.

Carly Smithson: In the upper tier this week for sure. What's up with Simon's "you need someone else to dress you" comments?

Jason Castro: It started as another kind of bland performance for me, but he did let loose more towards the end and it was better. He's still a one-trick pony for me, though.

Kristy Lee Cook: I knew she was going to do this song. And it was perfectly respectable, but nothing special.

Brooke White: A great song, but it has to be simultaneously vulnerable and assertive to work. It can't be a coffeehouse with a guitar thing. She needs to stretch.

David Archuleta: I'm of two minds here. On the one, I'm leaning towards Jim and Lisann on the "same soaring voice," etc. On the other hand, there have been a couple of songs where that voice has NOT been boring, but really engaging. It's a fine line for him. He needs to invest real emotion - that's his bread and butter with his style. He sorta did that tonight.

Ramiele Malubay: I think she's toast. She's flirted with the bottom three before, and she really needed to show off her big voice, but chose a song that didn't do that. Nor was it convincing country, in any way. I think she's gone.

Syesha Mercado: Liked her better than the judges. Yes, she took on a hugely famous Whitney vocal, and I get that - but isn't she supposed to be competing against the other AI vocalists, not Whitney? If she sang better than the others, forget about Whitney. And she sang better than most of the others.

I think Ramiele is cuter than a button, but I also think she's deader than a doornail.

Agree 100% with the comments about competing against the others vs. the original artist. I think that's what I was trying to say. She did mix up the song, it was not word for word, exactly the same vocal as Whitney. She did create something different. However, I think when Simon heard her go for the big ending he immediately referenced Whitney and that's a bit unfair in my opinion.

If they don't want to hear another Mirah, Whitney, Celine or Aretha then don't offer their songs up.

>Yeah, the sassiness with the judges ain't cute to me. Take your constructive criticism and shut up.<

I really liked her till she started doing this. It's not the time to argue or try to explain what she was trying to accomplish. If the judges don't get it, then she failed at communicating it through her performance. Just take the good and the bad comments and move on.

I got all teary eyed at the elimination tonight. The group in the bottom were so emotional. They said they were roommates, I guess that's why.

I saw on Yahoo news that Elliott's mom passed away. She seemed so sweet and supportive. Very sad. :(

I know they mentioned that David Cook had to go to the emer. room b/c of high blood pressure last night. But, the same article I just read, said his brother has had a setback while battling cancer. That must be so hard for him to deal with while trying to perform his best.

I read about Elliots mom too. Very sad. I love Elliot!

I think America got the bottom three totally right. And Ramielle was the right choice to go. She was nowhere near mature enough to continue. When she came out for Ryan's recap with her fists curled under her chin like a little baby I just wanted to yell at her "GROW UP". Great voice, but so-so control. A good choice to eliminate this week.

I think Ramiele was the right choice. Has Kristy been in the bottom 3 every week now?

I remember watching Elliots mom in the audience, she was so proud of her son.

I'm so so about David Cook for various reasons but I hope his health and his brothers are on the upswing.

So we are down to the top 8 now. My computer is being uber slow today >:( so I can't go back in the thread and see exactly who my favs were from the beginning. I know that Brooke, David A and Jason were in my picks. I think Ramiele and David H were the other 2. We still haven't voted, maybe it's time now, but who to choose?

Does anyone have an absolute favorite yet? Seems by now in other years DH and I were voting and had clear favorites.
None ever won by the way :)

For me, by far David Cook is the most interesting, listenable, commercial player. I've enjoyed young David Archiletta, but he is sounding more like a one trick pony. And even more than ever, Brooke needs to SHUT UP and deal with it!

Ramiele got booted off the show last night.

Bottom three were Ramiele, Brooke and Sayesha.
