I don't find the yodeling any more or less irritating than when singers overdo it with vocal runs.

Someone seems to have replaces Simon Cowell with a bad clone. The clone is much too nice to be the real Simon Cowell.

Well, I hate that too. LOL. It just annoys me more to hear someone who isn't Southern fake the accent just because it's country music. But most of country music irritates the heck out of me, anyway, so there ya go. ;-)

<<Admit it, DAR, you liked the wannabe Matrix chick. ;-)>>

Uh that would be a no from me. :) However there was something I really liked about the girl who sang Nora Jones. She had a good voice and she was cute in that girl next door kind of way. She just needs to work on her confidence.

I liked her voice, but does she have the vocal chops to hit the glory notes? I think to be an American Idol, you have to have some power. They don't want a Norah Jones, they want a Whitney Houston.

I haven't seen Simon, Randy, and Paula ask for from any of the auditioners this year is to sing a second, different song. A few of the people they have passed on (and also sent to Hollywood) I would have wanted to hear more before making a decision. Maybe they have, but just haven't aired them... I dunno.

I liked the female country singer. It was unfair to call her thing a "yodel" - it was more that country "catch in the voice," and yes she overdid it, but as someone said, no more than Whitney-wannabes overdo the melisma. She had quite a good voice, so I'm glad she got through.

What annoyed me last night was the "Stuck in the Middle" montage. They obviously had TOLD all the bad singers to sing that song - maybe even taught it to some of them, since many were too young to know it, probably. For sure, there's no way THAT many singers chose to do that particular song for their audition.

So they told them to do it, just so they could cut all the bad singers together in a montage for us to laugh at. I hate that.

Yeah that montage is getting a little tiresome. Though I am looking forward to the Sexyback montage.

I agree. I was really shocked when he let the kid go through that forgot the lyrics 2 or 3 times. (b/c he was nervous.) I think I choked on my M&Ms! :)

Let's think about that though, the kid had a good voice and was somewhat good looking.

I would have sent him through, too. I'm just shocked that Simon did!

I like it better when the judges aren't as mean. I still think Simon has been really funny, not just quite as mean-spirited. I like biting wit, just not out-right meanness. But that's just me, I know some people miss the old ways.
