Aaaahhhhh, the sun wheel of terror!
We went on the swinging gondolas the first time we went to CA when the park first opened. It was the worst experience I've ever had on a ride (the only Disney attraction to ever make me sick). We have never gone back on the swinging ones, but our family always enjoys the non-swinging ones, plus you have a really great view at the top (the swinging ones don't go that high). As an added bonus, there is never a wait for them, you enter the non-swinging ones through the exit. Hope you have fun.

>> the sun wheel of terror!<<

I think many of us refer to the stationary red gondolas as the "Sun Wheel" and the swinging gondolas as "The Sun Wheel of Death". I'm more of a Red Gondola person but iamsally always manages to get her DH, Tinkeroon and myself on the Sun Wheel of Death.

The Sun Wheel of Death is perhaps the most feared of Disney attractions anywhere. Many a steely-eyed coaster fanatic seem to be reduced to quivering bowls of Jello when confronted with the thought of riding it in a swinging cab. Personally, I find it mostly boring and not worth waiting for; even the view is spoiled by having to look through the steel grating of the cabs.

A ride in the red stationary gondola is real treat and provides an excellent view of the resort.

We went on the stationary ones. That was only terrifying.

The moving ones? Not a chance will I go on them. They shrieks of hysteria and cries of deathly fear that emnated from them, and how it appeared you were going to just fly off the thing and die were not exactly something that indicated "fun."

I'm not even going to go back on the stationary side. It's simply unpleasant.

Pluto 222 - after reading these posts you, nor anyone else will want to ride the Sun Wheel's swinging gondolas! They are not quite as bad as some have said but for anyone who is afraid of heights I wouldn't try them. The Red cars however offer the best view in the resort. On a very clear day you can see all the way to Catalina Island to the West. Great view!

Thanks everyone, so even if you don't like heights the stationary one isn't so bad right? How is the speed. The swinging ones sound terrifying. i love the tower of terror but i don't think that i'm game for it.We'll see my next trip.
