Agreed. Having a stadium is nice with little ones, but the WDW of the show is lame IMHO.

Sorry, it's not lame. The show is staged better there.

What exactly about the one in Disneyland is so much better? Is it the difficulty in getting a good seat? Is it that you get to see a dancing flower or pinnochio?

What?

The entire experience IS better at WDW. You can sit down on benches, everyone has a good view, you can file in, file out. You don't have to sit on the hard concrete for hours.

Other than that, the show is basically the same. Cartoons on water screens and a few set pieces between.

The only reason I think people like it at Disneyland more is because that's what they saw first. But the actual enjoyability factor is far superior at the Studio park.

I prefer the DL version because it doesn't feel like it relies on the toon projections so much. Also, I prefer the use of the Columbia and Mark Twain just feel like it gives it a much grander scale.

Overall I feel F! is a little overrated anyway, but I do prefer the production values of the DL version, but yes, the DHS is more convenient.

I think it's overrated, too, actually.

The one in Disneyland is pretty much incoherent. I think they tried to clean up the story line in the Florida version.

There was a lot more projection to the one in Florida. But I liked the smaller steamboat in Florida better than the Mark Twain, because it looks like what the Mark Twain is supposed to represent, the steamship from Steamboat Willie. That's actually the only good part of the show for me, really. Once the dragon appears, and the 4 minutes following that. The part of it before that is just kind of there.

I think the show in Disneyland could be cut by 10 minutes and be a lot better for it.

It is just better staged in Florida, and so much easier to watch, that makes the overall experience much better for me.

Totally understand where you are coming from on all those points.

for me, nightime at WDW is all about Illuminations. I sooooo love that show.

I liked that show, too, but thought the fireworks were not as plentiful as they used to be.

I really liked, oddly, that they used the music from the Millenium celebration. Although it sounds like I complained about it in my trip report, I totally loved that music. I actually ended up buying the CD for it, and still play it.

on the way out of the park after Illuminations, they were playing the Tapestry of Nations music over the loudspeakers. That really was my favorite parade from Disney of all time. We saw it like three times when we were there. I wish they'd bring it back, but I liked that they played the music at least.

Oh ya, we loved Tapestry too. When we went to WDW in 2000 on honeymoon, we must have watched TON and IROE 4 or 5 times, and still wanted to do it more!

>>Having a stadium is nice with little ones, but the WDW of the show is lame IMHO.<<

While the show is OK, but not as wonderful as DL's version, I find the stadium is part of the problem as it makes it way too easy for guests to start getting up and leaving before the show ends. As soon as Mickey gets rid of the dragon and Tink flies on the water screens... people start getting up and leaving, partially blocking the view for those who do stay seat. The same idiots stop and look back (still blocking the view of others) when the pyro go off for the finale. Makes me blood boil.

Also, this version of Fantasmic! feels like a show in a theater, as opposed to DL's version that appears to magically appear from inside the park itself.

As for Illuminations at EPCOT Center... LAME!! This show needs major upgrades (new fountains, lighting, effects, etc), and some changes (pull the plug on the boring TV sphere act). It's a show that techinically, still screams 90s.. and I feel EPCOT deserves better, and so do guests at WDW.

Illuminatios wasn't boring for us. Last time we saw it was 8 years ago.

It's ok if you think DLs version of Fantasmic is better, but I think it's a bit of a mess, and a logistic nightmare to have to watch. I like the stadium, better, and nobody got up early that I saw.

People who do get up at the point you describe have to be nuts. That's the best part of the show.

My first experience with F! was at WDW, in the theater setting. I only saw the DL version for the first time this past summer. I enjoyed the DL version much more than the WDW version. In terms of seating and comfort, DL can't compete with WDW, but I think the nature of the show emerging from the organic sets of Frontierland and the Rivers of America just makes it a more fascinating experience to watch.
