Wow!! What a great source of info you are! Would you suggest me skipping any particular park- you know, like ones that have the same rides in it like at DLR?? When we go to DLR and eat dinner at one of the character breakfast we have the option of ordering off a menu, so its not $32 for one adult, I am not a big breakfast eater. So its about $100 or so, lunch can run about $50-60, so this is why I wondered if the prices were close to what we spend. Also, is there a place to stop and buy our own beer and keep it in the room? We do this at DLR, we get water, beer, wine, juices, and fruit, cereal and milk and pet it in a cooler for our room. The hotel staff has never said one word about it to us.We will be staying at the Contemp. Hotel, do you have another suggestion.I also want to do a water sport, like para-sailing. If anyone has a direct phone number to the gotels, please let me know.

No. Do not skip ANY park.

Each park has things that are not in Disneyland, such as Hall of Presidents in Magic Kingdom, and the Country Bear Jamboree. Some of the rides are far superior in Magic Kingdom, such as Splash Mountain and Space Mountain.

You might want to skip water parks, if you don't want to do those. But they are very well done, too. We skipped them ourselves.

I honestly don't know prices very well, and can't compare between Disneyland and WDW.

But yes, you can shop and buy your own beer if you want. In the Wilderness Lodge, there was a store that sold some groceries, like bread and such. They also sold beer and wine. I don't know what's in the other resorts. I assume similar. Our room had a refrigerator in it, but I don't know how common that is. I assume you can request it. If you do rent a car, you can always just drive to a local grocery store.

If money is a problem for you, then I don't think you should stay at the contemporary hotel. It is more expensive than other places. The cheapest places are like the All Stars. They are like lower end motels. The contemporary is a "deluxe" hotel.

Items such as parasailing can, I believe, be done by anyone staying at any resort hotel. At Wilderness Lodge, there was also a boat rental place. We did not have time to partake in that. You may have to make a reservation early in order to do parasailing. There will be thousands of other people in the resort at the same time as you, and many of them would also like to do similar things.

Unless you have a need to go off property, you don't need to waste money on renting a car. You probably won't have time to go off property, anyway. Busses run every 10 to 15 minutes, or so. It's not a big deal to wait for one.

Again, get the planning DVD. If you stay at the contemporary you could talk to the concierge there, and they might be able to arrange things for you.

We just got back from an 8 day stay at WDW...We traveled with 3 adults and 3 children (ages 11,8,5) We spend the majority of our time at Epcot and DAK. The kids loved these 2 parks.

>>Frankly, be prepared to be amazed at the place.
The scope and the breadth of offerings at WDW is just jaw dropping. Nothing else like it on earth.<<

...Someone has not been to TDR obviously.. But then again, this comment is yet another example of the "Bigger is better" mentality that plagues most WDW guests. Personally I feel DLR and TDR kick WDWs arse in regards to the quality and offerings, which are fewer but much more quality to match the price. Best gifts come in small packages.

Yes, DO skip ex-MGM. It's a disjointed park with no focus, and most of the things they offer there can be done at other Disney parks.. and done better.

Jon, this wasn't your first visit to WDW, was it?

No way should you skip any of the parks, unless your time is incredibly limited. As Jon said, they all have lots of interesting and unique stuff.

Will you have a car?

The nearest supermarket is located at the "Crossroads" plaza just outside Disney. It's near downtown Disney, at the end of the hotel plaza blvd.

If you have no car, you might consider hopping a shuttle bus to one of the good neighbor hotels on hotel plaza blvd and then walking across the street, but it's a bit of a hike. There are a million restaurants there too though, so you could have lunch and do some shopping one day to save money (compared to the hotel shops...they tend to be pricey).

For ordinary room needs though, I think the hotels all have shops you can use...not sure about all-stars though.

I like Tokyo Disney Resort, and I absolutely LOVE DisneySea, but really the Tokyo "resort" is no different in scope or scale than Anaheim.

Florida is entirely different. It's like a Disney "city" or something...prepare to be amazed. :)

"Someone has not been to TDR obviously.."

I know what is in TDR. There is absolutely no comparison. There really is nothing like WDW anywhere.

"Jon, this wasn't your first visit to WDW, was it?"

Nope.

Don't listen to people telling you to skip parks. They have gone fifty times and don't remember what it is like to see the place for the first time.

Why do you ask if it was my first time to WDW?
All times are Pacific Time (US)
