I would say that, if I had the means to stay in a deluxe place and money was absolutely no object, I could definitely enjoy staying for a month to six weeks or so.

Not hitting the theme parks every day, of course, but rather something much more leisurely like taking in the scenery, doing all the stuff Fort Wilderness has to offer, checking out all the dinner shows they have and any restaurants we might want whenever we want to, some of the "V.I.P" stuff like swimming with the dolphins and seeing the Illuminations show by boat...

There certainly IS plenty to do if you've got the cash to do it.

Having said THAT though, I do think it could get old even so.

I don't think a two week vacation is out of the question for DisneyWorld though, there sure is plenty to do to occupy your time even beyond the parks.

I guess what struck me about this topic was that I read another post where the person mentioned that on their annual trip, they would be staying again for close to three weeks. For me, this sounded like a big deal. From that post, it sounded like it was pretty commonplace. I just wanted to know if I was the only one that thought that this was out of the ordinary. I could understand if this was a trip that was far and few between visits. But annually?

I could surely stay 2 weeks and miss the parks some days - seeing the different hotels and taking it easy.

My first trip we stayed 13 days and nights and did not see it all but was ready to go. I still felt rushed with no time to just sit and relax.

I am going this year for 8 days and nights and next year for 10 days and nights.

I will make myself take some extra time this trip and next trip knowing I plan to go to the world for years to come.

My first trip to WDW we stayed 2 weeks, we stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Now you have to know that we come from Hawaii so the flight is long, so we stayed a while there. But we didnt even get to do half the stuff we wanted to do. But we did alot, and we didnt get tired of it at all. We did some stuff at the other resorts, but we also went to a Devil Rays game, but no other parks. The hotels themselves have so much to offer, the we rented boats, went on a bass fishing trip (loved that) and took in a private fireworks cruise. We are planning a trip for next summer and planning on staying 2 weeks again. Time flies when your there.

I think 2 weeks would be fine. 3 seems a little long for me. We just came back from 7 days and that was too short, especially after staying 12 days in Aug. Since we have been 3 times since last Feb, we only did some rides and attractions, getting back to CBR by about 3 or 4pm. This gave us time by the pool which the boys and I loved (I read 2 entire books!!)It's a rare thing for us to swim outside in Feb and today I had to shovel a path to my car, how I wished for the pool again!!!

We spent 3 weeks over the holidays once. We normally stay only 2 (annual passes, discounted rooms)but my van did something unexpected as we were leaving the hotel parking lot and it took the mechanic a week to order the part and complete the repairs. WDW extended our stay at the same rate and gave us a discounted dining plan. They were very helpful. We were (funds aside) thrilled at having the extra week!

I'm heading down this summer for our first 2 week stay. My reason is that with 2 young kids, we can only do so much in the parks each day, especially in the heat. We'll do mornings in the parks, afternoons resting or swimming, and evenings at DTD, resort hopping, parade/fireworks watching or just watching tv an getting to bed early. This way we won't need a vacation after our vacation!

we have always had two weeks there, Id love three but with taking the kids out of school /money etc its just not possible. We are busy busy busy most days and adore it that way, I know others would hate it. We've managed to go every two or three years.

We get 14 day passes for WDW (think theyre only available in the UK arent they?) we usually also get 14 day passes that cover Universal/Sea WWorld and Busch, but with the ages of my kids we decided that this coming trip we are going to miss Universal.

SO, this trip we will be there 13 days and plan to do;

Sea World .......1 day
Busch Gardens....2 days
MK............2 days
Epcot.........2 days
AK............1 1/2 days
MGM ..........1 1/2 days
Aquatica......1 day
TL............1 day
BB............1 day

the theme parks we are there all day, the water parks we leave after lunch and go to Downtown Disney in the afternoon.

You tired just reading it?

Lol, we've always done that, this will be out 9th trip.

We stay at Fort Wilderness and try to stay 21 days. Driving 1000 miles and setting up camp, I want to stay for a while. We do AP and do this at Christmas and summer. Unfortunately not this year.
We do not do the parks every day. With AP you can just go watch a parade or fireworks. We rent a van and shop and eat off site as well. We have favorite things we like to do. Sometimes we drive to one of the coastal beaches. This 21-22 days is very relaxing and slow paced and the only way to do
Disney with kids if you have the time.
If I go just with DH it is only for 7 days and we stay at one of the resorts. That to is very relaxing. Staying at the campground offers so much to do and we cook alot of our own meals.

Just to play devils advocate: There are some people that go annually and bi-anually. However there are also plenty of people where this "Big Trip" is a once in a lifetime (or once in a couple of decades) event. For these people I can easily see a 3 week vacation. After all they may not have had a major vacation before. For them this may be the "highlight" of their vacationing career.
