Hello LPers!
I would like to view the fireworks from the California Grill because I hear it is a wonderful experience. This will be my first time at WDW so I am not familiar with the set up and I heard that the Contemporary will be under heavy construction at the time that I am there (August), so I am wondering if anyone knows if the construction at the Contemporary will in any way affect the view of the fireworks from the California Grill?
Thanks so much!

I don't know about any construction, other than what is being done off to the side for the DVC tower, and that wouldn't have any effect on the view towards the MK.

They have become very strict about visiting the Cali Grill without a reservation. Fireworks viewing is only available on the 4th floor unless you are eating there.

Thanks guys! I totally plan on making a reservation to eat there, I hear the sushi is fabulous!

I've had the sushi and can highly recommend it :)

Although I'm not sure about construction, I would imagine it would be highly unlikely to affect the view, as you're on the very top of the building, perhaps ring reservations and enquire before you make your booking (which I would make as soon as possible, as the fireworks reservations fill up early!)

^ as in 180 days from the date you plan on eating there, sorry I realise it's too early yet lol!

Got my ADR for 9:20pm. I'll be eating there on 4/8. The fireworks are at 10pm that night, Wooo hooo! Now I need to cross my fingers that we get seated on time since a lot of people linger to watch the show and who can blame them!:)

Kala, we had a similar seating and were slightly delayed on a previous visit.. All that happened was we got seated, ordered our first 2 courses, and they put a hold on the main course, so that we ate our starters, then went out and watched the fireworks, when we came back in our main courses were on the table waiting for us... So long as you're upstairs you can go out to watch the fireworks...

Wow, I am even more excited than I was before (if that is even possible) It didn't even dawn on me that we could eat one or two courses, watch the fireworks, and then finish dinner...that sounds so romantic :)

Betsy, yes you definitely can, that's what we did this last time, had the first 2 courses, then put a hold on dessert, watched the fireworks and came back for our desserts (everything was fab, but if you're interested in sushi can I recommend the hurricane I think it was called? It's possibly the best I've ever had..)

Might have been romantic if there hadn't been 9 of us ;)
