Hmm....

Don't forget the various Education shorts like Jiminy Cricket's "I'm No Fool", "You: The Human Animal" and "E-N-C-Y-C-L-O-P-E-D-I-A"

Well I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that has dedicated 1.5 shelves so far to the Legacy and Treasures, I do wish however they released 2 waves a year...

CWS, I mentioned the Jiminy Cricket shorts in the mega-post that I did. I don't know how many there were though, and I believe I've only seen them in the Ink and Paint Club ads for Vault Disney.

I'm glad they don't. The first few waves doomed me by releasing too many sets I wanted too close together. Us working stiffs need to spread out our purchases.

End result: I never did get them all before they went bye-bye.

eBay got me On the Front Lines, Behind the Scenes and DL USA. The kicker is that I still see On the Front Lines at Fry's...

I still haven't finished all the treasures as well...except for maybe Goofy.

OK. Forget all that. Wave 8 was just announced today, it's Donald 4, Destino plus documentaries, and Dr Syn as episodes and the feature film. And they're available a month earlier than usual! Adjust your DVD shelf space accordingly.

>>Adjust your DVD shelf space accordingly.<<

One caselength - check.

Destino plus a bumper crop of the usual regurgitations is not worth 20 bucks. And what's a Dr Syn? (Never mind, I really don't care.)

One dude's opinion. YMMV.

I hate to say it, but this wave is really making me question the value of the series. Sure, it will be neat to have Destino, but as I've mentioned before, I really don't think there are enough bonus features in the world to make a 2 disc DVD on a single animated short interesting. I have enough trouble getting through all the information on the Silly Symphonies, but those at least had a ton of variation between them. I fear that this will just throw the same 5 pieces of information at us in 30 different ways, similar to all those Travel Channel specials on Expedition Everest (enough thrust to power a 747!).

I would also hardly call Dr Syn a "treasure". The only time I've ever heard of it was on part of the bonus features of the Elfago Baca/Swamp Fox DVD's. It just said that it was another of the tall tale-type shows in the DL series. While I have no doubt that it will be interesting to watch (if Davy Crockett, Elfago Baca, and the Swamp Fox are any indication), but it really doesn't have the social impact that the others had. It may be good, but it just really doens't seem to be anything all that special, compared to what we know the Disney Vault is capable of producing (from what I can tell, I will admit that I haven't ever seen it). I would much rather have another Mickey Mouse Club serial instead, but I'm sure this will be entertaining as well.

The only DVD in this wave that I feel will live up to the predecessors is the next round of Donald. We all know the shorts will be good, but I can't help but think that there are only so many bonus features (similar to Destino) that they can associate with Donald to keep the discs interesting. I'll be looking foreward to this one, but I do wonder what they plan on including as the extras. Will this be the last of the Donald shorts? Maybe they can do something with that...
