My family loves to walk and we are staying at Ft. Wilderness cabins in October. I was wanting to know if you can walk from the cabins to Wilderness Lodge, I know I will want to use there counter service and go to the gift shop.
Thanks for any help.

Yes, you can... we have done it. There is a lovely paved trail between Fort Wilderness and the Wilderness Lodge. It takes about twenty minutes to get from one resort to the other.

Even though WDW is very safe, I guess I would not take the trail after dark because it is quite secluded and not heavily traveled.

Thank you, I bet it is a very pretty path. I would love to take pictures as we go through it.

It's a great trail to walk. Watch out for the alligators along the way!

Hmmm... I've seen alligators on the Fort Wilderness 'Swamp Trail', but I can't say I've ever seen them on the trail between the resorts. The trail cuts through a Slash Pine forest, and does not have any water near the trail.

The only way there would be a problem is if there were Land Gators, and they always ring the doorbell and announce themselves so there is really nothing to fear.

^^
I encountered two alligators along that trail during my visit in May 2006. They were pretty small, and there are small canals going all over the place through that slash pine forest -- it doesn't take much to get near water there.

Cool... I really didn't know that was possible.

Thanks
