Have you taken a good look around IASW lately, like right before the refurb? It was a mess, and you can clearly see the ceiling and walkways etc. That takes a person farther away from truly experiencing the ride than a few toon characters thrown in there.
IASW was cheaply made, least they could have done is put a ceiling up there themed to the ride. The jarring contrast is unbelievable. Fix the ceiling of IASW, theme it to the ride.... |

| FerretAfros Wed 5/7/2008 4:29p | Maybe they could just make everything look extra crappy and falling apart, and then it will all match the ceiling. It's not the ceiling's fault it looks like that, so why should it get punished? I say punish everything around it so it doesn't stand out any more! |

If it's anything like the new Hong Kong version, I'm sure the changes will be welcomed by the time opens and nothing to worry about.<<
How about they scale it back with not as much as ONE Disney character?!!
This subject has been dormant for a while ... then Screamscape delivers this small update ... But after all this time .. and thinking about it - I'm still vehemently against ANY Disney character invading 'it's a small world' for all the reasons I've already mentioned (to death!).
It's not a matter of being stuck in one narrow perception ... But understanding the difference with "subtle" enhancements, and abrupt changes to the delicate main sub theme of the attraction.

| davewasbaloo Thu 7/3/2008 2:22a | oc_dean - I am totally with you on this one. But I think we are a dying breed. For everyone of us that are theme fans, there seems to be millions of ADHD character fans that like to bash us for defending what we used to love about DIsney. I have come to the conclusion that I am like the Elephants on the Jungle Cruise - although old school Disney fan, I am an endangered species.
So rather than waste my time arguing about it in cyber space, I am trying to find a new passion. Sadly, and depressingly, this has been very hard because I have not found one yet. |

To me it was an inspiration, it used to be a visionary company that set the bar high and exceeded expectation. Sadly, it is becoming more and more a pop culture media company with some nice amusement parks. So sad. |

| oc_dean Fri 7/4/2008 1:14a | Well .. we have pretty much covered the issue from stem to stern .. in great detail. More so than many other things important to Disneyland fans here. (That's my observation. Ranks up there with TL98, and DCA)
Doesn't mean many of us don't care ... it's pretty much the same posters around here ... and we've said our thing to the same people around here .. and that's the only reason nothing much else has been covered.

... and grow a little more mediocre in the process.
You know .... millions have grown up on their shear brilliance of past endevours.
And in my heart I know this idea of inserting their branded characters is anything but brilliant - Given the delicate yet perfect theme of the ride.
