I don't know how i feel about adding disney characters to each scene, yeah it will be great for the kids but characters is not what small world is all about. Its all about no matter how different we all are and no matter how different each and everyone of our countries are we are on the same planet and need to come together in harmony. Sounds a little corny but thats what it is. I really don't like the idea of having a U.S.A. room replacing the jungle room. I love the jungle room, it was my favorite!

"...just imagine all the stuff they'll be able to sell in the gift shop now with cute little Disney characters in the style of Small World!!"

I think they already had a pin series with this general idea behind it. It was cute because it mixed two seemingly unrelated (other than parent company) things together. I feel like it would be a lot less innovative or collectable (if they're trying to sell toys I guess that's not the biggest concern out there) than the line they have already released.

As for the USA scene, I have mixed feelings about it. I don't mind too much, since that's always been the weakest part of the ride. Heck, for iaswh, they just block it off with curtains and hang signs overhead. The two sides of the flume don't seem to be related, since the village looks more like it belongs in the previous room (who knows, it might end up there), and the rainforest just looks really random, not even filling up the entire area allotted for it. Even though thematically there isn't much going on here, I think it sets up the finale. It sort of gives you a quick chance to catch your metaphorical breath before the grand finale. I'm not sure how the addition of a full-fledged scene in that room would affect the pacing, since that section of the ride (Polynesia and leftovers room) seem to be a lot more laid back than the rest.

Another problem that I could see occuring is that this attraction, more than any other attraction in the world that I can think of, has a very distinctive design style. The stylized props, sets, dolls and scenes all relate to the big image. I have little doubt that they will be able to recreate this style for the USA room (unless they decide to make it modern times, which would go against the rest of the attraction's look at unique historical aspects of the different cultures). This seems to be a much bigger issue for inserting the characters. Will they be able to put them in, so they match the style of the overall attraction, match the coloring of their specific scene, and are still recognizable? I'm not really sure. It also takes away from the idea of each area having its own unique culture, and replaces it with the idea that it's such a small world after all that Disney has already made a movie about each part of it. It clearly breaks from the concept created for (and firmly rooted in the overarching ideas behind) the World's Fair. Part of what makes iasw so great is the innocence that it still has in this modern time. I'm afraid that inserting corporate symbols throughout the attraction will make it lose a lot of what makes (or made) it so special.

Come on, whats really wrong with adding Disney characters to its a small world. It would be just like real life and the real world, Disney is everywhere.

Regarding the USA room, there is already one in the DLP version and it fits just fine. There is a wild west scene with a Cowboy and Native Americans, a Hollywood scene with Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers types and a New York scene. It also features the Golden Gate Bridge and still shows the World Trade Center in the background.

I'm sure youtube will have a ride video for anyone who wants to see it.

As for the characters, if this was done for a limited time for a specific celebration I wouldn't mind it. Say for example in 2017 for the 80th anniversary of feature animation or something similar. A limited edition merch line would be snapped up I'm sure.

As a permanent fixture I'm not so keen!!!

"whats really wrong with adding Disney characters to its a small world"

The ride was fine without them? They don't match artistically? They have nothing to do with what the ride has to say? It's an overdone thing with these characters in every corner of the park with no escaping them?

How are those reasons for a start?

Oh, sorry. I'm just really annoyed about this really cheap stunt they're pulling. Yet again.

Can we all start to agree that the cartoons are just getting too much already? Has anyone said a positive thing about this at all on any site?

Honestly. Does EVERY change have to be the end of the world around here!?!?

IASW was fine without the characters. That doesn't mean it won't be fine WITH them. How on earth can we get upset about this when we have NO IDEA what the changes will be like? At this point it's pure speculation which is pointless to freak out about.

Change is good. Change is refreshing. And the general public will welcome a few characters scattered about in the ride.

I say go for it. IASW is stale, dated, and needs something fresh to recapture my (and many others) attention (Small World Holiday aside).

"Does EVERY change have to be the end of the world around here!?!?"

It's not the end of the world. It is just another stupid and bad change that continues a long line of these sorts of things.

"How on earth can we get upset about this when we have NO IDEA what the changes will be like?"

Because they have nothing to do with the ride, don't need to be put there, and are only there to sell more toys.

"Change is good."

Change, simply being change, is NOT good. What the heck is wrong with people who think change for the sake of change is good? Change by itself can be either good OR bad. Someone drops a bomb on your house. That's a change. You think that's good?

And fine, if the ride is stale and dated, update it. But don't start cramming your stupid cartoon characters into it like you are doing with every other single thing.

Have these people at long last lost all sense of what is good? Have they not a shred--not a single shred--of talent or taste left to them?

I'm sure you'll probably also love the new toy shop at the exit which will probably be stuffed full of small world style mickey plush. I'm sure people won't be able to keep their hands off them. But I hope they do.
