the getting up early was in the olden days. now, you call guest services 30 days out. or i guess excactly 1 month out on calender days. at least i hope this is the way it can happen. iplan to be the only one in our party to check in an hour early and then after the seat assignments are made for our whole party, i can go about my business until seating time. it will be some dollars and some time, but magical in a way we certainly do not have here in iowa! the whole family will be there, and i don't know when if ever that will happen again, so we're going to party like it's----- 2008!!!!

Yeah, the getting up early to phone was what I remembered doing for WDW :-) But still, calling at the right time does take some planning, and stress on my part - I always have to be sure I don't forget to call at the stroke of 7!

Standing in line for an hour to get good seats seems to defeat the purpose, I personally think they should rework that... but for those of you who enjoy this, have a magical time. I just decided I need to do Napa Rose next visit with my spare change (DD and I had a fabulous meal there for under $100, incl. tax & tip). To each their own!

"Standing in line for an hour to get good seats seems to defeat the purpose, I personally think they should rework that.." YES!! You are absolutely right Lul u. I was very disappointed in the check in part. You pay a serious PREMIUM for a 20 minute show and the reason I didn't mind the amount was because I thought I wouldn't have to wait for a good view!! But I have to say the experience was still magical for us and we were glad we did it! Once seated we were treated like royalty and the desserts were great. I probably won't do it again in the near future, but can definitely see myself doing it for a birthday or special occasion.

Woo-hoo! I just got tickets for Fantasmic for Apr. 20. I'm surprising my DD (8). Is it true we can stay to watch the fireworks from the seats?

^^ yes, you can stay seated for the fireworks. Last time we were offered more drinks before the fireworks started. Be sure to look toward the castle, you will see Tinkerbelle flying over the trees :) Of course, this is after the 9pm showing of Fantasmic not the 10:30.

we were thinking of doing the reserved seating, we are going in june and havn't decided if it is worth the money.

after reading all the posts here it seems like it would be 1. a lot of work and stress to get good seats. 2. felling bad if I pay the money and have a bad/obstructed view or 3. everything goes smooth and we have a magical time. so I am back to square 1.

My question is this: is fantasmic general viewing standing only? is there anywhere to sit with a decent veiw that is not riverside? I have a 4 year old so standing for the show could be difficult. and by seating I just mean anywhere to sit, I understand that there wont be any other chairs available except the riverside seating.

You used to be able to get seats at Riverbelle Terrace if you got there early enough. You could do a late dinner and just keep your seats. Hopefully someone can report if this is still available and how early you'd need to get there.

The last time I went, in November, I just sat on the "curb" behind a light tower about 1/2 hour before the show, and stood up when the show started. It was fun to chat with the nearby families, and I let the little kids stand in front of me when the show started. I made lots of friends! :-)

riverside seating is not at all in any way worth what they charge for it.

that being said if they still do balcony seating you might try that.

let me clarify that this was November of 06 and I thought I was booking the balcony not riverside that in itself was quite a disappointment. the "snack box" was fairly lame though it sounds like it has been substantially upgraded now.
