Well said. We enjoyed EPCOT so much last week we were there 3 times. Even my boys (8 and 12) are enjoying it more each time, realizing that not every awesome experience in a park has to focus around thrill rides.

I love Epcot! :)
There is nothing like slowly walking World Showcase in the evening - Just after nightfall - Its magical - All the countries lit up and the beautiful music playing - unique for each country - quietly playing -
It can be very romantic :)

We actually found a new room at EPCOT with older pic and models in it. OK, it was new to us anyway. We went out the "back way" from Club Cool (not the door that takes you to the center of the park) and we ended up on a little path. We were about to turn left to go around the building and right back to the middle, but instead we turned right. We ended up by what looked liked a building to greet characters, but in there was a room with all kinds of cool stuff in it. Photos from each country, displays and models about Horizons... Some of it looked familiar like I had seen it somewhere before, but in about 10 trips we have never seen this place. Anyone know of any other "cool hidden places"?

Having grown up in SoCal and having spend so much time in Disneyland through the 70s and 80s, I knew someday I'd get to Walt Disney World and EPCOT Center.

In late February 1986, I was a senior at Wagner College in New York. We were sitting around talking about Spring Break plans -- someone said 'We should go to Walt Disney World.'

As a poor student, I chuckled thinking that it was impossible.

Someone said 'It's only 27 hours by car.'

*BING*

Flash forward, and I was in the car driving to Walt Disney World in a beat up K car, with my girlfriend at the time.

The trip was so fun, and so spontaneous [we slept in the car the first night because we couldn't locate any hotels!], and overall was so great. My girlfriend had never been to a Disney theme park before.

But I digress...

The Magic Kingdom was okay to me. I felt then, and feel today, that Disneyland is the better of those parks. But it was great to see 'Hall of Presidents' 'If You Had Wings' and some of the other differences between the two parks.

When I got to EPCOT Center, I was absolutely blown away. All those great Future World ride-through attractions. All those great AA figures that you could practically reach out and touch. The wonderful theme songs in each pavilion. The CircleVision movies. The World Showcase pavilions.

To me, back in 1986, EPCOT Center was everything that Disney theme parks could possibly be, and more. Not a lot of character stuff. The walk-around Mickey and Minnie characters were there, but it was all 'original' Disney stuff.

It was easily one of my top Disney theme park experiences ever in my life.

Awesome story!! I wish I would have been able get there before my first trip of 1992, then not again until 10 years later. Now they are much more often.

The first time I saw EPCOT Center was before it was open. My wife and I married in 1982 and on the way to the Bahamas, we stopped at WDW for 2 days first. Taking the monorail around EC was such an incredible thing. I don;t think I'll ever forget it. For our 1 year anniversary, we went back to WDW just to see this park that looked so amazing. We were not disappinted. Haven't been disappointed yet. With all its changes over the years, it is still our favorite WDW park- no contest.

EPCOT was not my favorite park when I was a kid, but now that I'm an adult it has grown on me. And, well, adding Test Track and Mission Space didn't hurt (although I was a fan of Horizons)

Doobie you are so right! There really is nothing to compare it to. I love Epcot. I find it so cool that it's considered a theme-park. I sometimes feel is overlooked because it is "educational." I have friends who say it's boring... I laugh in their face. As far as rides go, nothing beats Mission: Space, Soarin', and Test Track. They are some of the best rides in all of Disney World. And Epcot has the best dining in all of Disney World too. Nothing beats Epcot. It's also a great atmosphere park. I would be completely okay just walking the park, it's so enchanting, even Future World. Yes, Epcot is definitely one of my favorites.
