I thought Sword in the Sotne wasn't a widescreen feature.

>>(1.66:1)<<

I'll believe it when I see it. My fingers are crossed. (Not that this is a crucial title or anything.)

>>I thought Sword in the Sotne wasn't a widescreen feature.<<

Once again, it's one of those dual format dealies. Animated 4x3, but with the specific intention that it would be projected 1.66:1.

I'm still waiting patiently for my two-disc edition of Hunchback...

Seriously, I think there are lots of movies they should release in Special Edition formats before they do Sleeping Beauty again.

ORWEN: I agree with you, christiemarsh88, duckling and I'm one of the biggest Sleeping Beauty fans around--

ORGOCH: --with emphasis on BIG!!

ORWEN: Shut up!! (Not you, christiemarsh88, duckling, I was talking to a certain nasty old biddy who invented the word RUDE!!) Anyway, since 2009 is to be Sleeping Beauty's 50th anniversary, it would have been much better if she could have been awakened THEN instead of in 2008.

ORDDU: Plus Snow White is past due for another release and I believe the same could be said for Beauty & the Beast.

<<<Anyway, since 2009 is to be Sleeping Beauty's 50th anniversary, it would have been much better if she could have been awakened THEN instead of in 2008. >>>

Good point. That seems like it would have been a much better time to try yet another rerelease.

<<<Plus Snow White is past due for another release and I believe the same could be said for Beauty & the Beast.>>>

Another good point. My friend tried to buy his sister a copy of B&tB on DVD for Christmas last year and couldn't find anything cheaper than $50 online. I don't seem to recall people clammering for the Sleeping Beauty DVDs quite like they did Beauty and the Beast. Plus, I would think B&tB would be a much better choice to show off Blu-ray technology. The colors are more rich, the backgrounds are more dimensional, and can you imagine that ballroom scene in high def? Sleeping Beauty, as much as I love it, just doesn't seem like the best choice for the first Blu-ray release.

As one of the only two features shot and released in 70mm (the other being The Black Cauldron), it is definitely the best choice for the first Blu-Ray release. It has the sharpest picture of all the Disney classics.

^^^Well, if we're choosing between Sleeping Beauty and the Black Cauldron, then they're definitely making the right choice. lol.

Hmmm...the Witches might disagree with you on that one. ;) I mean, I would much rather see Orddu, Orgoch and Orwen in Blu-Ray and high def than Flora, Fauna and Blanche, er, Merryweather. :) Wouldn't you agree, ducklings?
