On the LP page containing Disneyland related sites for commercial enterprises, there is a link for E Ticket Magazine. I clicked on the link (http://www.the-e-ticket.com/). But, the page that loads says, "the-e-ticket.com expired on 02/21/2008 and is pending renewal or deletion."

Is "E Ticket Magazine" out of business? Or, did they just forget to pay their domain fee?

Or, do they have a new website address and LP's link needs to be updated?

I have some bad news :o(

"The "E" Ticket" will no longer be published.

I talked to Jack Janzen in January and he sold the name "The "E" Ticket" and will no longer be publishing the magazine.

I am sorry to be the bearer of this. I will miss the magazine.

Oh no! I just subscribed last year and absolutely love it! This is so sad.

Wow. That's huge news. (Thanks.)

I wonder if we will get refunds for the undelivered magazines that we paid for in advance?

That's too bad, but I had sort of stopped reading them. I think they ran out of things to talk about a while ago.

Curtis,

Jack said we will hear from him about the unused part of our subscriptions.

Terrible shame. Jack should feel very proud that he was able to continue after Leon's death - I know how hard it is to put together a magazine for public consumption. :-)

I must admit when we started Tales magazine over three years ago I never expected to be the only game in town - ever. First the Disney Magazine and now E-Ticket magazine. Lots of publications have come and gone over the past decade but I only hope that we can continue Tales.

I always envisage that Tales would be a mix of past, present and future - however the number of current projects over the past 3 years has meant that we never really got around to cover the historical aspect as much as we would have liked (although the history of the Golden Horseshoe Revue article from Issue 2 that Doobie wrote is one of my favorites). Plus we just did the development of Epcot through Marty Sklar's eye. I don't ever expect to be able to cover the history like E-Ticket (those are big shoes to fill) but I hope we will be able to dip in and out to supplement our current tales.

Persistence of Vision is another fan mag that just sorta vanished. But The E Ticket... that is very bad news. I thank Jack and his late brother Leon and their hard working family for putting out such an amazing little publication, a labor of love, really. It was so good that it was for sale at Disneyland itself. That's testament to how excellent the product was, and the niche it served.

Too bad other folks couldn't take it over and keep it going. It wouldn't be the same I guess though. I wish that Jack would at least publish one last, final edition to wrap it all up and say so long.

E-Ticket was a great magazine and I always look forward to it. I appreciate Jack carrying on after the passing of his brother.

ArchtMig mention PoV which had some really great information that sort of faded away a while ago.

Another excellent Disney fan magazine was Storyboard which ran from 1987 through 1990 when it was sold out and became Storyboard, The Art of Laughter which ran from 1990 through 1995.

There were also a couple of great issues of Theme Park Adventure about Pirates and Tarzan's Tree house.

Alas, Tales of the Laughingplace appears to be about all that is left in terms of a "magazine." I would also like to put in a word for the book series "Walt's People" which is on its 5th book and has a collection of papers about the people that worked with Walt.

I also spoke with Jack at the NFFC show and sale in January. There is one more issue to come, and then it is done. He has sold the IP rights to all the materials, so past issues will exist in one form or another but he could not go into details at that time. He said it was "just not fun anymore." I thanked him for carrying on after his brother's death. That must have been so hard on so many levels.

I will miss E-Ticket terribly. There is no other magazine like it and I doubt there ever will be. I always thought it a great compliment and imprimatur that the magazine was available for sale in the Park too.
The attention to detail and historical accuracy was always tremendous.

They should be proud for a great run.
