I could have been mistaken on the Jan '07 Show, but I'm pretty sure Jack was not there. At any rate I can definetly tell you he won't have a table at the show on Sunday. His presence and his magazine will be greatly missed.

Yep, sorry about that TinkBestFriend. Just found all the contracts for the January Show and Jack was indeed there. He actually missed the July '07 show.

Given who purchased the E-Ticket I doubt we will see a new form of the publication in the near future, if ever. Again, it's sad when such a fine publciation ceases. I wish Jack all the best as I know we all do. That last issue will be one to treasure.

Why would someone go to the expense to buy it and then just bury it?

I was told that the new owner wanted the name, not the magazine.

Lovely. I could start a magazine with the same name tomorrow.
What's the point? And why would Janzen sell to a person who just wanted the name.
It really stinks.

Just to add my perspective - what we do not know is, how much it cost to produce the magazine, in a period of declining readership in general for published material; how many subscribers were active, and whether the venture was profitable; how much work it took to produce a single issue; who bought it, and why, and what the legal ramifications might have been, including whether Jack was the sole owner; and, of course, whatever other factors might be at work in Jack's personal or professional life that had to take precedence.

What we do know - Jack's brother and co producer of the publication passed, a horrible loss in any circumstance; it had to be an incredible task with help, and even more so individually; how wonderful the publication was for so many years, and what a treasure it is for those of us who were able to obtain, enjoy and retain all the issues that were published; and, most importantly, we are all put in positions where we have to make choices that we might prefer to avoid, but are not always given that option.

If Jack is reading, or hears, I hope that the primary sentiment he takes from our exchange is that his work was greatly appreciated, will be missed, and that many of us will treasure our copies forever, and that we wish him well with the challenges of life and all good things in his future, with our deepest appreciation.

I'm a magazine publisher, so understanding those numbers is my job. I'm convinced it could have been done with at least a mild profit.

I noticed this on the e-ticket website:

"Whew! We are back online! Sorry, but we recently had issues with our old internet provider, but we are now on track! Looking forward to seeing everyone at the NFFC show on Sunday, July 20, 2008".

I wonder if that means the E-Ticket will be there?

My guess is that the E-Ticket will not be at the NFFC Show on Sunday. Mickeyfan1 is one of the NFFC members who puts together the show and assigns the table locations. From Mickeyfan1's post on July 16th, there was no contact for the E-Ticket. I'm sure if he decides to do the show last minute, Mickeyfan1 will let us know.

Just learned that Jack Jensen and the E-Ticket will indeed be at the NFFC Show and Sale on Sunday July 20th.

The sow opens to NFFC members at 10 a.m. and to the Public at 11 a.m.

A $1 discount coupon can be downloaded at NFFC.org for those who ARE NOT members of the NFFC.

Hope to see you at the Crowne Plaza on the corner of Harbor Blvd and Chapman Avenue on Sunday.

Sorry for the late notice but I just found out this morning.
All times are Pacific Time (US)
