| u k fan Mon 3/10/2008 2:54p | I think part of the problem was that it was posted right on top of Christmas and I barely had time to sleep (and occasionally didn't) back then let alone have time to get online.
I didn't even see the thread until several days after Christmas and at that time of year people often look closer to home when it comes to charity work.
It was just bad timing.
The post back then mentioned a 90 day sabbatical which is nearly up so who knows. I'd love to hear his take on some of the recent developments!!! |

If this is what's being circulated I can tell you that yes it was disappointing but Spirit is a big boy.
I can't believe that any of us that have frequented these boards for any time(except those that have an open animosity for these 2 guys) would believe for a minute that Spirit would leave over this alone.
It has been interesting and distressing to watch how new posters appear and right out of the gate start personal attacks on selected individuals. This of course leads me to believe that these new posters are wolves in sheeps clothing(I can't help myself it's that psych training rearing it's ugly over analyzing head). I seem to be the only one with this theory(it's the Oliver Stone in me).
Some folks have other things on their plate that force them to make choices about how they allocate their time. If a combination of life events limits one's time then the smart person prioritizes.
If I personally had to pick where to spend less time without question it would be where I felt less valued/useful.
I know I said I wouldn't be here much but this thread keeps me coming back. Honestly it's the first thread in a while that has. |

| blueharvest82 Mon 3/10/2008 3:34p | I go to the parks (WDW) quite frequently, I do this because I am a huge disney fan. I am not a cast member and I am not paid to visit the parks. I simply enjoy going. My girlfriend and I often see people at the parks with their $1200 cameras practically climbing up trees and hiding in doorways to take "exclusive photos" of new attractions, restaurants, and events. I have an annual pass, I think I have used the discount privileges once or twice. I often see people on line in front of me complaining that they don't get a discount because they are annual pass holders and they should be given priority over everyone else. These people are on a mission to bring their spin on the "reality" of the disney parks to the masses. They have such animosity towards everything disney stands for and yet continue to go. These people think that little kids shouldn't be aloud in disney parks because they are noisy and run around. These people think that magic kingdom shouldn't have hard ticket events because they only appeal to families who are here for one week, and not the annual passholders. These people think that disney should not expand and make more theme parks because it is not in the interest of annual passholders. These people think that the WDW parks (which make the top-ten theme park lists each year)are lacking in attendance and should fix all of the current attractions before they make any new one's, If it was up to this "special" group of people, every attraction would be 'hall of presidents' or the 'people mover'. These people are rude to other guests and cast members. I was at world showcase this afternoon and and woman came over to my girlfriend and I and asked us to move over on the bench so she could sit and then proceeded to get the rest of her group untill we had to get up with our food and leave. Spirit of 74 and TDlfan represent this group to the fullest. After they left this site, everything became calm. No more arguments and problems for the most part. just look at how many messages were removed from this post simply by mentioning their names! I for one am glad that they have moved on to different points of interest. Also, everyone needs to remember that these are theme parks and should be treated accordingly, we are all adaults and shouldn't take any of this seriously. Visit WDW or Don't, just have fun either way.

| jonvn Mon 3/10/2008 3:38p | I noticed that the spirit guy disappeared, but don't know why. TDLFAN was just going bonkers angry. He was yelling and throwing fits, and I didn't know where it was coming from.
It came across as someone wrapped a bit too tight. So then he said he was done. But I mean, the guy was going off about back stabbers, and this and that, and I don't know what.
I don't know about his pictures. I never saw any, but he was just losing it on this board for a few days there, and I have no idea why. Not my concern. It is my concern when someone starts to shriek at me over NOTHING.
It was rather unpleasant, and I tried to make nice with him, as best I can, but it was very difficult and the flaming hostility made little sense.
I really don't know what went on with Spirit, other than people saying he was doing this or that. I get that all the time. People yell at me like always. It gets a bit hard to take sometimes, and before you go crazy, you need to sometimes step back... |

Why does this sort of thing never happen to me? I mean, if it did, they'd be rather unpleasantly rewarded for their rudeness, but it just does not happen when I go places. Actually, people tend to just get out of my way anyhow...I guess it's a size thing. |

| dshyates Mon 3/10/2008 3:47p | I was about to say that I don't think it has anything to do with the charity thread. I remember Spirit going round and arond with Blueharvest, where he insulted Spirit's spirit. And Blue I do agree with you about AP holders, in general. I disagree stongly that Spirit and TDLFan are axamples of this. They are in the same class as Jonvn, Mr. X, Davewasbaloo and myself in that we don't think that the current direction is a smart one. I will say that it is better than what the previous guys did with DCA and HKDL, which are completely inexcusable and the current guys agree as evidenced by the $1.2 billion redo of DCA and the coming infusion into the HKDL. Its not uncommon for a company such as Diney to lose their focus with so many hands in the pot, but they usually pull it around back to the core principles eventually. But also expect the people who remeber the glory days to say so. |

Too much time on the computer in general. Too much time sorting photos and/or writing trip reports. Too much investment of time, energy, and emotion.>>
Agreed. It becomes unhealthy and self-destructive |

I go there to see TDLFAN and Spirit but I still can't get used to the visual clutter of the posts. I mean, just how many jumping smile faces can one person STAND ! |

| u k fan Mon 3/10/2008 5:24p | I hate smileys!
:)
It may not have been the charity thread that ultimately caused Spirit to leave, but it was there that he made his goodbye and he did reference the lack of interest in said thread in that goodbye.
The only thing I wasn't keen on was Spirit's need to paint some of the Disney execs as villains. Whether we agree with their decisions or not I felt that occasionally it got into "personal attack" territory!!! |

| u k fan Mon 3/10/2008 5:27p | I did enjoy the fact that I could read one thread and be so opposed to what Spirit was saying and then click into the next thread and agree with him 100%!
Same with TDLFan!!! |
