| Rebekah Thu 3/20/2008 4:54p | I was excited to hear about the new create your own ears today. My mom called when she saw them so I jumped in the car to get a few pics and pick up a pair to send to a CA mouse ear collector I know.
Overall I like the idea of decorating mouse ears with various patches to my own taste and having a variety of ears and beanies is a fun idea so you can coordinate with different outfits, seasons or celebrations. My beanie with two sets of ears totalled $16.99.
The one thing I was disappointed in was the script embroidery. It doesn't use the chain stitching that the previous style did so the stitching is too narrow and doesn't stand out as strongly as the old way. The script itself is good but it is just too thin. Even a bright pink thread on a white hat didn't pop. I hope this is something that can be improved.
While I was in the shop I saw several hats being assembled within the few moments I was there.

Those look really neat, but I'm a little disappointed that they have so much more that's "girly" than what they have for boys. I guess the concept in kind of girly at the heart of it, but I know boys would really like to do this too. I just don't think there are enough options that a family with two or three boys would be able to get unique designs for each of them. They definately look like there are a bunch of possibilities, and I look forward to seeing this come to the Gag Factory in DL over the summer, but I hope they continue the current trend with having a bunch of different standard designs too!
On a related note, DL recently switched from the white thread first used for the 50th back to the original gold thread. They now use computer guided machines as well, but they embroider it in a similar way, so you can't really tell the difference between the new and old (and the writing is plenty thick too!). |

No SSE patterned beanie and no Epcot ears or patches. Bleh. I wont be buying one. |

I find it interesting. DL embroidery is free, WDW you pay for it, and DLP it's not available at all! |

As long as I can still get a black beanie with plain black ears, no stickers, and my name stitched on the back, then that's good enough for me. Call me a purist! ;)

| MomluvsDisney Thu 4/3/2008 6:18a | Interesting idea! I think I will have to get DD a set when I take her for her birthday in August. (Mm...And me too!) I have two of the beautiful regular ears that were bought when I was a child and a teenager. Something contemporary sounds fun! |
