| Darkbeer Sat 3/22/2008 8:32a | Here is the official response I got from the Disneyland PR department...
>>During the March 19 performance of the Pixar Play Parade at Disney's California Adventure, one of the pendulum swings onboard a float vehicle came unhooked from its post. No Cast Members or Guests were injured. In an abundance of caution, we temporarily suspended performances of the Pixar Play Parade on March 20 and 21 to allow for further inspection and evaluation.<<
This was sent Friday Morning, prior to the decision to keep it shut down for the weekend.
And it is a blow to Disney, who got all the Media attention last week for the new parade, and now it is closed for at least 4 days, and during a very peak period!

It's not cold air that gives us colds. It's the virus in the air (no matter what the temp. may be.) Cold air can compound a cold - after the fact one catches the bug. But as you kinda pointed out ;) .. I think you already knew that. :~ |

| Castmembayeah Sat 3/22/2008 7:43p | well, from someone with INSIDE info, here's the dealio.
The Toy Story float had some breakage, in the form of the swingy-thingy that the people swing on breaking off.
The NEMO float had some kind of smoke/smell/something coming outta crush.
Those two things combined have freaked everyone out and they're working on fixing it.
Good times. |

| FerretAfros Sat 3/22/2008 9:39p | So was it one of the swings on the Bug's Life float, or the bar on the Toy Story float? The swings seem a lot more susceptible to damage than the bar, which appears to be pretty firmly braced in the structure of the float. The swings would also cause more stuff to break as they hit the ground, making it look a lot more spectacular.
I'm kind of surprised that this happened in plain view of guests and there haven't been any pictures online yet. It didn't take more than a day to get a video of the TDL Buzz float. I guess that could probably work into another "DCA sucks" argument. |

As long as the sign doesn't say "FUN" and "SCREAM" ... urgh ...
This new parade is fantastic but I agree with Jim ... there is a lot going on. I don't need to be squirted with water to have "fun"
I do like the people on the floats but I can do without the extreme acrobatics. Simple good music, fun floats and genuine enthusiasm goes a long way.

I always suspected Crush was little too "whoa dude!". Time for random drug testing? |
