I also think that Monsters Inc should had received a proper float like the other movies.

its fine that they have the drum but something mroe along the lines of the movie would had been great.

I do understand that there were a couple of tinker toy small floats that for some reason did not make it out to the parade route.

From the looks of that LP Live picture on the right, it did come back today.

Doobie.

I was there, but the parade did NOT have the "a bug's land" float.

Yes the Parade went out today without the Bugs Until!

So this is the reason why the Swing Broke off of the Bugs Float:
Originally, the Swinging Pendulums on the Bugs float were Designed to be able do a full 360 degree Loop in the air, which is what the Floats Designers and Parade Creators originally wanted. The Safety Department and However thought this would be a major safety hazard so they put stoppers of each swing so that the swings could not to a full 360 degree loop. Since the float was not designed to have stoppers disrupting the swings, For days the swings would swing and would hit the stoppers each time, causing damage and causing the bar to bend which held up the swings. Finally, the Bar had had enough punishment and finally just gave gave way, causing this major fiasco to happen.

So Basicly, it was the SAFETY Departments fault that something majorly UNSAFE such as this happend.

But if they JUST had a problem with the "a bug's life" float, why did it take a WEEK to remove it from the parade.

If they just wanted to remove the one float, it should have been done a lot quicker, especially during Peak Easter Break.

But when I watched the PPP today, I noticed a lot less water, and a lot of bubbles, especially at the end. And that was a good thing. A lot of guests were commenting on the bubbles as the parade ended. Glad to see that the change was made.

I wouldn't be too surprised if they toned the water down some (Maybe because it's a little cooler today? It's still pretty warm though), but I would be surprised to see more bubbles in the parade. The machines seemed to be going beyond full-blast the entire time, and I think it would be pretty tough to get any more out of them, without adding more machines. They used to start just before the Nemo float, so it's possible that they started them sooner. It's a shame that they've had to change it so soon, but at least it's running again.

(As a side note, I think it would be really cool-but scary beyond belief-to see the pendilums do full loops. They were getting pretty high as it was, and I can't imagine them getting much higher than that. I wonder how they will fix it, since obviously putting stoppers in doesn't do it. Will they just have to trust the CM's not to do full flips?)

I am not at all surprised that the great Disneyland Safety Department was responsible for this accident. Those people are the biggest bunch of ninnies sticking their nose into places they don't belong.

Most of them have no engineering degree, no formal education in workplace ergonomics or industrial engineering, and yet they swoop in and force rules and regulations and physical changes to equipment all the time. And no one has the ability to stop them or say no to them.

I could write 10,000 words on how ridiculous some of the stuff mandated by "Safety" is in regards to the safe operation of Disneyland facilities and equipment. That they are behind this retrofitted parade float that broke comes as absolutely no surprise!

<I wonder how they will fix it, since obviously putting stoppers in doesn't do it. >

I suppose they could put in a stronger bar, that will hold up to metal fatigue longer, and then replace it every so often.

But yes, it's ironic that this can be traced to the safety department.

Is the plan for the bugs float to return at some point? The Heimlich looked great.

I think it's quite possible they wanted to fix the ENTIRE parade before bringing it back. But possibly due to pressure from management during the busy Spring Break period, they had to bring it back early, only with missing parts still...
