April 09 sounds a long way off, but I wouldn't be a bit suprised if it opened sooner if what you say about attendance for the Anniversary being flat. I will be interested to know from anyone who visits the Resort on a regular basis if attendance has peaked since the debut of the 25th Anniversary. I have to admit apart from Jubilation the rest of the offerings do look very weak in comparison to other Anniversary's. Even TDS 5th Anniversary had more going for it than the current TDL 25th.

Wow, that's too bad the 25th isn't setting things on fire :(. But, its just getting started so who knows how it will turn out.

Maybe we have just come to expect more from TDR - they have launched a new parade and fireworks show (the latter is still weak but at least is better than the previous show) this month, have The Enchanted Tiki Room re-do for July (it is very cute - and includes that awesome AA figure from Stitch's Great Escape in MK), the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel (a phenomenal hotel - I had the opportunity to tour it on Friday and it is breath-taking) in July, the new Cirque show in October and then Monsters Inc. Ride and Go Seek! next Spring.

I guess I'm just frustrated that the theme (the notion that TDL is a treasure box full of surprises) got dropped and then the theming was scaled back. The hub feels so empty without any photo spot and the use of the photomosaic idea for CMs feels strange. The castle decoration is fine though (although I don't feel it needed a second Tinker Bell - who is on the main marquee at the entrance to World Bazaar).

I guess time will tell whether the anniversary resonates with guests. The weather was pretty awful this week but both parks were like ghost towns on Friday (both parks switched off all of the FP machines except for Tower, Pooh and Buzz).

I find it pretty shocking they don't even have a castle show for this one.

Maybe I've been here too long, but 10 years ago on my first trip to Tokyo the big castle show was one of the MAJOR highlights of the big 15th anniversary.

Sort of a signature, and it set off TDL as the most "show oriented" of all the Disneylands.

Guess times have changed, or something. :(

The Resort recently released a rather good DVD Box Set that features all past entertainment for past Anniversary's and Special Events. Its hard to ignore even for the most diehard TDR fans that the Resort has seriously cut back on its big events. I don't have so much of a problem with the Anniversary other than the fact I've come to expect more from the Resort. Mr X brought up the 15th Anniversary Castle show and its a perfect example of what I think people want from a TDR Anniversary Event.

With rising prices what does the current Anniversary have that you must simply stop what your doing and book a vacation. Jubilation, TDL Hotel, Stitch Tiki Room are all going to make fantastic additions to the Resort but its not like any of these are going to be gone in a few months time. I think people are going to wait until some of the more worth while additions are added before going. I expect Halloween and Christmas will like usual be very busy, and like I was informed of in another thread not everyone is into Parades and Character shows, so I think a lot of people are waiting until Monsters Inc opens. I know I'm in no hurry to visit.

Look forward to the Jubilation coverage. LaughingPlace always does a good job of covering not only the US parks, but also International parks and the cruise ships.

Any details you want to share with us regarding your tour of the hotel, Lee? The pictures I've seen are very impressive, and I can't wait to see it for myself in July.

How did the look of the lobby compare to that of Disney's other Victorian themed hotels? Was it as amazing as you hinted it to be a few months ago? I've only the concept art to go by, but it does look dazzling and definitely grandiose.

On Thursday night, they took down the wall that separated the hotel from the station, leaving only a barrier, so you can now see from the foot of the station into the courtyard at eye level. From that vantage, it looks stunning, including what you can see of the inside from the multi-story windows. And, stepping back a bit, it's amazing how it matches perfectly with the station: you'd never tell that they were designed and built some 6 years apart.

<<Any details you want to share with us regarding your tour of the hotel, Lee? >>

The hotel is awash with characters - literally everywhere but in incredibly subtle and appropriate ways. There is a great Sorcerer Mickey and Brooms fountain by the Porte Cochere. You enter the lobby on Level 3 and the lobby rises up to the full height of the hotel. The chandeliers are stunning. The caged elevator from HKDL Hotel is used and the main bar Dreamer's Lounge is in the lobby. They have added more check-in stations (the biggest flaw of the MiraCosta). The park-view rooms are fun - nice vaulted ceilings and decent sizes. The fourth bed in the alcove is a neat trick. There are Mickey Heads everywhere.

The four character rooms (which make up only c. 15% of the total rooms) are beautifully themed - guests will be amazed at the level of detail which IMHO completely distracts from the lack of view.

Got to see the Walt Disney Suite which is stunning - architecturally incredible and spacious. But then there are only 4 suites overall.

The main restaurant Sherwood Garden is massive and reminds me of the Enchanted Gardens at HKDLH. However the real gem is Canna - this restaurant is simply the most stunning facility I've ever seen in a Disney hotel - it is modern but exquisite - although it doesn't have the spaciousness of Napa Rose it is an incredible work of art. A cool WDI R&D trick at the entrance too. I honestly can't sum up enough superlatives to describe this intimate 100-cover restaurant. It is breath-taking.

Not sure what else to add. Got to save some things back for the summer issue of Tales. :-)
