The Walt Disney Company Confirms - It Is Regaining Ownership of Disney Store Chain in North America; Welcomes Paul Pressler

BURBANK, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) today confirmed that it has reached an agreement with The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc., to acquire ownership of the Disney Store chain in North America. It also welcomes back Paul Pressler to the newly created position of Chairman of Disney Location-Based Enterprises.

The Company believes the Disney Stores can be an important extension of the "Disney" brand and, with the improved economics provided by a smaller store footprint, could add value to the Company in the promotion and monetization of its growing number of robust franchises. To enhance the extension of that brand and facilitate partnering with other entities, the Chairman of Disney Location-Based Enterprises will oversee all interests in the Disney Stores, World of Disney, Resorts, the Disney Cruise Line, the Disney Vacation Club, Walt Disney Imagineering, Adventures By Disney, and Disney Consumer Products.

The Company also welcomes Cynthia Harriss to the newly created position of President, Disney Character Promotion, reporting directly to the Chairman of Disney Location-Based Enterprises. As President, Disney Character Promotion, Harriss will maximize the profile of Disney's extensive stable of animated characters in Disney theme park attractions.

Paul Pressler previously spent fifteen years with The Walt Disney Company, including stints as chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, President of Disneyland Resort, President of the Disney Store chain and Senior Vice President of Disney Licensing. Cynthia Harriss also served as President of the Disneyland Resort.

Ken Pellman, who previously spent fifteen years with the Disneyland Resort and has eight years of experience in public relations, has been named to the newly created position of Director of Strategic Communications for the Chairman of Disney Location-Based Enterprises.

actually it's a pretty poor April Fools joke, they should have made an actual press release, then maybe more people would have bought it.

Thanks for playing along, everyone. Yes, it was an April Fools offering. Not a very good one, but I was working on the fly with very little sleep.
