Topic: Banning Question

Obviously, the posting community would like to hear from the admins or Doobie or Rebekah about a recent banning of a poster.

Care to share anything? I assume we can have a polite discussion about this for many reasons.

Regular posters will want to know what offense was made so that it is not repeated. It is not like I am asking for details, just a simple notation if a rule was broken or if it is something more.

Thank you for leaving this up.

(And if it is an April Fool's, nice one!)

I think Doobie has answered this well in the topic in community. It wasn't a single offense, and the details are private.

What is interesting to me, is that if you look through WE right now, you can see a long string of topics where the last poster is listed as "ADMIN." Looks like they're looking for something. I can't tell what posts have been deleted, if any. I do read a lot of topics there usually.

I think the LP community is strong because the mods do weigh what they do very carefully. I respect that they are seeing sides of the story I never will. I don't need to know the details. I've been grateful for most of the bannings they've done in the past.

I've been at other Disney sites where members are publicly flogged (in a manner of speaking) by the Moderators if a member does something that is 'over the line. Believe me; it is much better when the mods are discreet about when and why a person is banned.

In fact one of the reasons I like LP so much is that on many boards the moderators become ‘stars' because they are so active on the boards. If you took a position against that held by a favorite mod, you would not last very long. Even if you weren't banned, you were publicly ripped a new one. I like if much better when mods do their work behind the scenes like at LP.

Yes, thank you for the 'splaining in Community.

But honestly, if you wanted a really good April Fool's joke, you should maybe have banned someone really, really controversial like LuLu.

(OKAY, THAT IS A JOKE PEOPLE. Please look for the smilie at the end of this post.)

3/2, I don't buy that for a second.

The poster in question was removed because lots of religious zealots hated him and clicked "report this topic to a moderator" frequently when he "offended their faith".

The mods got sick of dealing with it, and banned him.

Simple as that.

^ We really don't know and we won't know. I don't think that is it, though, because I disagree with some religious things and I'm not being banned for my opinions.

And, I know there are some atheists and agnostics who didn't care for his style of posting, either, so that disproves your theory, too.

I have seen Jon post as vehemently on subjects other than religion in various sections of the boards. While it might be comforting to think it was just his views on religion that caused this I'm not sure it's true, but there's no point second guessing this at all as we'll never know. Jon himself was either being polite or said that he thought it was due to something else!!!

I thought he was banned because execs at DL pressured Doobie due to his anti WDW rants.

Please people, 1 conspiracy theory at a time...
